Re: the roll out of ebay managed payments

(posting after last post and not in reply to anyone in particular)

I have registered for MP on several IDs.  I was selling on this ID in the lead up to Christmas last year, very successfully too.

This may sound mean, but reading sellerโ€™s posts saying they are giving up on eBay rather than register for MP has me looking forward to Sept-Dec this year when I will sell on this ID again.

Less sellers selling great condition Pentax Film Cameras will see me setting higher prices than I did last year.  I was selling 40 year old film cameras (with lenses) for anything from $450 to $700, depending on accessories included in the sale.  In the lead up to Christmas 2021 I will probably up my asking prices by 20%.

When I was selling last year there were about 30 camera listings at any one time.  I have noticed less Pentax K1000 cameras listed on eBay these last few months.  At one stage there were only 6,  it now hovers around 10 to 15.

MP may end up providing a windfall for sellers of niche items who do register.  I donโ€™t think there will be any difference for sellers items in saturated categories like books, clothes and mobile cases, but niche items like I sell should benefit!

Re: the roll out of ebay managed payments

One can only hope every person signing up has read and understood E-Bays legal jargon and TOS before ticking that box (providing that is even part of the equation).

From where I'm sitting, it appears to be a minefield, with no redress what so-ever if anything goes wrong.

It appears E-Bay doesn't owe you an explanation for anything and if you want to take them on, you can only do so on an individual bases through mediation.

Good luck with that and happy selling !

Define savings bank account.   Mine goes into what i consider a savings bank account.

I guess where are you getting this information from?

Re: the roll out of ebay managed payments

Sugar, info is on ebays help page , and savings bank account not sure what ebay means as we have a savings account and a everyday account both earn interest so Iโ€™m not sure what eBay means by saying canโ€™t use Savings Account, I may have to ask them to clarify that one

They might be referring to the old passbook savings account, which is rarely seen nowadays.

Re: the roll out of ebay managed payments

The page says

Tip
The bank account you link to receive funds must be a transaction account. It can't be a savings account.

I'm guessing that you can't use one of those accounts, e.g. Christmas club, that you can't get funds out of regularly

So I take it a bank savings account that we donโ€™t access online would be okay to use , this is the account we currently  use when we do our payouts from paypal.
