a fella in Belgium bought a magazine 'bin' 3 days ago, billed him $16.50 ($1 p/h included) for air mail
..he didnt inquire about postage costs before clicking the listing.
we all make mistakes tho dont we? i was thinking about a mutual cancellation, if he thinks the postage costs are not worth it.
how does one open a m.cancellation, and do you get your fees back?
or should i just strike him in a UID, if he doesnt pay?

You open the dispute or the cancellation in exactly the same way. You just choose the option that the buyer hasn't paid or that you have agreed to cancel once you have clicked on the link to start the process.
Option 1, mutual cancellation. If the buyer agrees or does not reply within 7 days then you get your FVF refunded and the buyer, if they feel so inclined can leave you a neg. If the buyer does not agree then your FVF is gone forever and the buyer will almost certainly leave a neg.
Option 2. unpaid item dispute, you can close it after 4 days if the buyer doesn't pay, your FVF will be refunded and the buyer will not be able to leave feedback.
Enterely uo to you but I go for option 2 every time.

oh, if the buyer has the ability to leave feedback from a m.cancellation then an UID it shall be.
So he is not happy to pay $1 postage when it's prob really $5 postage?
i am uncertain if the buyer is unhappy or not yet with the postage costs (only guessing at this stage) the item sale price - $6.00. Postage; large letter over 250g up to 500g to Belgium - $15.50. $1 is my packaging and handling charge.

In my experience, an UID gets buyers to pay but it also gets them narky.
They bid/buy, don't pay or pay late, get upset about having a dispute open. This is often reflected in FB or at the very least, DSR's.
Can't win.

I couldn't give a rat's behind if it gets them narky, if they paid within 4 days there wouldn't have been anything for anyone to get narky about. I have never had a buyer leave me anything but pos feedback after I have opened a dispute, they either pay up and say nothing or they apologise profusely and pay up. If they did decide to leave a neg that would be better than not getting the cash.

Amen to that!

I like the friendly reminder first, as suggested on these boards, on day 4
Dear ...............I have just been checking my payments received and see that I have not received a payment $............ from you yet for items purchased ………. and that checkout has not been completed. If you have paid, could you please check your records to see if the payment has bounced back to you for some reason, or email me within 24 hours if there is a problem
And then if they don't reply within 24 hours, open a dispute

Was thinking about the benefits of a MC and dont really see any, so, i doubt i'd ever open one now.
well, the buyer responded and wants to take one of my sea mail postage quotes for "over 1kg up to 1.5kg" parcel. and has bidded on more auction items. i said sea mail might take up to 3 months but he says in his experience it takes a month or so. So, better for him.
