a fella in Belgium bought a magazine 'bin' 3 days ago, billed him $16.50 ($1 p/h included) for air mail
..he didnt inquire about postage costs before clicking the listing.
we all make mistakes tho dont we? i was thinking about a mutual cancellation, if he thinks the postage costs are not worth it.
how does one open a m.cancellation, and do you get your fees back?
or should i just strike him in a UID, if he doesnt pay?

JOE... you have absolutely NO PAYPAL protection with seamail.... none at all..
seamail from here to europe is 3 months.... never 1 month, there are so few ships being used for cargo these days that some items sit for well over a month just in the docks awaiting a ship to europe!!

Lyndel!!!!!
yes i know, i havent had any problems with sea mail tho, sent all over the place (canada etc, which always took about 3 months. i dunno.. the buyer thinks differently, mebbe he had an item sent over from oz and didnt realize it was air (?) anyway, i did warn him about the pace, he can't really blame me when sea mail is actually slow.
i do realize i'm taking a risk with no PP protection, crosses fingers that i wont have any issues (like always) in that area.
you know, i thought you could get the buyers details on the receipt for OS postage as proof of shipping for PP protection...inquired on my last international sale...i was wrong, the PO wont do it. All thats on the reciept is the country, I doubt that would be enough for proof?

It really does not matter what is on the receipt from the PO....if you sent it by Surface Mail you have no paypal protection full stop.

With airmail parcels over a certain weight you need to fill in a blue customs form which has the buyer's address on it and certainly used to be sufficient for Paypal, not sure if the same applies to surface mail though and suspect with no proof of delivery Paypal would prove rather unhelpful unless the parcel at least showed up as having arrived at customs in the receiving country.
Personally I would only quote for trackable air delivery, if they wanted surface they would have to pay by bank deposit or a personal Paypal payment.

I use sea ( suface ) mail regularly , for importing heavy items from my suppliers in UK and US , It always takes at least 3 months , but having said that , Ive never had anything go astray or customs GST issues if I keep the Invoice value under $1000.
If he wants it sea mail , send in confidence , but will take 3 months.

i include air and sea mail prices of various weights in the invoice for OS buyers/winners. hes just taking his time shopping. another item hes bidded on ends in 5 days (wants to combine)
yea, my last OS sale was for 3 large letters, standard air mail (took a risk with that too) worked out cheaper sent singly. large letter mail doesnt come with blue custom slips, theres just a air mail sticker and you write whatevers contained on the envelope (printed matter)
i cant remember if sea mail does or not, its been a while.
anyway, i wont bother with international shipping anymore cos i dont get a great deal of interest OS so i dont compensate my auction start prices from them. theyre low cost items and PP slugs you fees for high OS postage rates, it digs into my cheap items even more....and i cant be bothered driving to the PO to send them off either! i find it a hassle & its just not worth it to me.
