My tablet is a few years old now however every app I have works perfectly except the eBay app as it's no longer supported. I tried to update but the app is not compatible with my device and now I have nothing.
Using the desktop version on a tablet is clunky and annoying and so after 18 years using eBay, it has come to an end. I'm sure there are many people with the same issue. eBay really should fix this...

Given that eBay don't seem to be supporting the app on any platform, I doubt that they will be in a hurry to fix it. When it was available, it was less than satisfactory.
If you are going to stop buying because of that, when you have access to the full site, which is far more functional than the app ever was, that is your choice. Good luck with your buying from other sites.
I'm sure eBay won't miss your 30 purchases per year.

If you are unable to update your device to Android version 5.11 or later, and using a browser is not satisfactory, you might want to try a third party app such as Fullscreen Tablet for eBay that works with older Android versions.

If you're using Internet Explorer, change browser.
Ebay no longer supports IE

I have a Samsung S5 mobile and have had no issues whatsoever with the app. Only complaint is the amount of spam they send through for Plus in the middle of the night. I am running Android 6.01 (whatever that means). I am unable to update to newer versions.
I have an el cheapo Samsung tablet (an A something). Got it 4 years ago. It doesn't have a SIM card, so can only run on wifi. I have no issues using the desktop site on that, via Chrome. I wouldn't call it clunky. It's no different to using it on my laptop. Just takes longer to type stuff.

Tippy, I'm new to smart phones, but what I have learned, is that you can go into the apps and turn off the notifications, if they're waking you up or disturbing you.

Thanks Stawks. I'll have to investigate that. The only time my phone doesn't go to bed with me is if I'm on days off. Otherwise, I use it for the alarm, and, if I'm on call, I have to be able to hear the phone (and swear at it when it rings at 4am!!!!).
