Not sure what you think that site turns over? I tried it for a year and sold 1% of listings. Here I sell appx 95% on first listing and if it doesn't sell on second it gets put into either a bonanza lot or a local b&m. No losses, great turnover and great exposure.

apologies .. i was thinking of another site - oz not gumtree which does have a great turnover rate..

No, the mods haven't dropped out. I just got told off for mentioning another site in my previous post. They are still there protecting ebay, just not protecting sellers.

Is the 30 'free to list' being made available in November for sellers? This started on Thursday 22 September, 2011 and finished at the end of the month being, 30 September, 2011. It was on trial.

Is it inteded that eBay will give this a full months trial in November?

Anyone know anything about this?

Thank you.

Re: Changes to meet buyer demand on eBay.com.au (26/07/2011)

So now ebay have hidden listings (best match) .. targeted keyword matched advertising (google Ads) which sends potential buyers to other websites .. slow sellthrough .. compulsory paypal which invites chargebacks , difficult buyers and thieves .. 50% higher Final Value Fee .. a global finacial crisis .. soaring energy costs .. spiralling real estate prices and mortgages that defy logic .. add to that the fact that real estate is loosing value and rents are going up as interest rates increase and wages have been fairly well stagnant for 20 years in Australia .. then add to this scenario the fact that auspost seem to be outrageously expensive eg. you can send an item from China to Australia for less than a dollar but to send that same item back to China will cost us $25+ .. then flood the Aussie site with Chinese based sellers .. so obviously it is very difficult for us Aussies to tap into the world wide marketplace unless we are selling extremely rare and collectable highly sought after items .. jeez it is excessively expensive to post stuff within Australia so really ebay is becoming defunct for many Aussie sellers .. is a great place to buy elcheapo Chinese goods if you enjoy gambling on the build quality of the item etc .. so in a nutshell the Australian Ebay product (for your average Aussie seller) is fairly well diluted to the point of being useless .. I would say that the 30 free listings a month is the only good news to to come from ebay in many years .. I am all for it (I am not a professional ebay user any more .. I used to be before rule changes and fee hijkes and other miscellaneous tweaking removed my listings from view a few years back) as after the best match thing came along I pretty much gave up selling on ebay in disgust and have simply used the place to get rid of stuff I no longer want and run it on ebay once or twice before binning it or sending to the op shop .. and if you think that ebay will relinquish and roll back to a lower Final Value Fee I would say you are mistaken there .. all I can say is make the most of the 30 free listings while they last as the way things go on ebay the powers that be (at ebay HQ) may decide that the trial was ineffective and simply retain the higher final value fee and shut down the free listing thing .. now a final word of advise here for your average Aussie seller would be; do not purchase additional stock with the express intention of using ebay to offload said stock as the next round of ebay tweaks to improve buyer satisfaction may in fact send you bankrupt ..

Re: Changes to meet buyer demand on eBay.com.au (26/07/2011)

YES, THANK YOU, ap33p, YOU SAID -wrote-IT: eBay TAKE US FOR FOOLS, FOR A RIDE, what about their: " slightly increasing final value fees – from 5.25% to 7.9% "? That is a 50 % increase, NOT a SLIGHT INCREASE ! And what about the increase on listing with 'Featured Plus', from $19.95 to...$49.95, an indecent, exhorbitant 300% increase !! ONLY companies with shareholders will apply such outrageous increases, with total disdain for their client and 'shareholders' take all, or do they, at the end of the day?... We are at the hands of a global business trying to emulate the likes of 'Amazon', wanting to change from an on-line 'Auction House' to a 'Department Store', IT WILL NOT WORK, why? Because sellers cannot price their items, they either over price the item, or worse, they under price it, defying their purpose thru the inevitable process of a 'Deutsch Auction', where all sellers have got to lose their shirt... eBay has lost the plot and their short term gain should see their dismise...

Re: Changes to meet buyer demand on eBay.com.au (26/07/2011)

.../...
'Featured Plus', above: from $19.95 to, now, $49.95 is an increase of 250%, NOT 300% , sorry for any inconveniences... Truly substantial, still, outrageous, even dishonest some eBayers friends are telling me, especially when you consider that eBay, like some other Auction Sites who allow you to list for free, accept advertisers on their site, on your listings, where is the benefit of that for the seller? eBay want their cake, and eat it too, or perhaps are the shareholders of eBay are the ones eating it?...
Now an 'as dishonest' and 'as big' a problem -not many of you have mentioned- is 'where is my 'Power Seller' sign gone???'
Take my ID/account for example, over 1200 positive feedabcks (ALL positive, NOT A SINGLE Negative, nor Neutral one in almost 6 years of trading) and NO TOP-RATED SELLER Icon beside my ID in my listings (& the 'Power Seller' one gone), the reason: I do not sell 100 items/year
(I used to sell a lot, lot more than 100/year, until eBay changed their categories, suppressing the 'bread & butter of sellers of Australian ART, 'Australian Masters'. So, no 'Grey' at eBay, it is 'Black', or 'White', a very extremist group, aren't they? My 'Power Seller' logo still ap[pears in 'My eBay', but is is of NO BENEFIT to me, or my potential bidders/buyers, it is now kept a secret that I am a Power Seller (not for long, they review my status -& the one of other sellers in my situation, on the 20th of October...).
This is the 'THANK YOU' I am getting from eBay for having spent almost ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS (between listing fees -always with 'Featured Plus' at $19.95 /pop, now at $49.95/shot-, final value fees and PayPal fees) in almost 6 years of trading on eBay ! THIS IS WHAT GLOBAL BUSINESSES will do to you, without an apology, they want YOUR MONEY, nothing else and if you are like me a victim at the hands of eBay, please post the details hereby, I would, like many others, appreciate it.
