hi,
a lot of sellers have only themselves to blame for losing sales..on a search for womens clothing (i do quite often & also have a saved search) there are eg 50500+ items ..
when i click the link at the side to customise into categories eg tops, jeans etc etc .. the box that appears shows how many there are in each category eg jeans (50) of the whole of the search ..
at the bottom of this box is a category 'not specified' & always has the highest number of items on this occasion of the above fig (26000+) items ..
which would you rather look through a list of eg (50) items in each category or the 'not specified' which is full of sizes & items you might not be interested in..
the sellers who choose not to specify have their items end up in this category .. so whos to blame for that ??
some sellers dont include measurements & say please ask .. from a search i have to ask so many i end up being blocked by ebay for sending my email limit..
for people who search for items ending soon theres no time to ask & get a reply before the end in some cases ..
i dont understand sellers not taking a few minutes to take at least the bust meas ..
they say to me .. i have so many items to list i dont have time... well why do they think we have time to ask ???
or i am so busy with my life i dont have time ..if people want to know they'll ask ..well .. news out is that some people wont .. they have left it in posts that they hit the back button if there are no meas..
we are tired of wasting money ..& being disappointed with items that dont fit ..
possibly the lack of sales is people starting to vote with their bids
:)
WHAT U R TELLING US, blue*nile IS THAT eBay SYSTEMS R NOT 'USER FRIENDLY', I AGREE, the DINOSAUR has CREATED a MONSTER, TAKE 'Best Match' in SEARCH (Any Serch will Default to THAT, will be 'SORTED BY' THAT, by 'BEST MATCH' !!!), HOW CRAZY IS THAT ???

Hello from Holland, Europe.
Hereby I would like to congratulate eBay Australia on the marvellous job they do in misrepresenting the facts in their own favour.
The final value fees are not increased from 5.25% to 7.9% as eBay explains.
No: the final value fees are increased from 2.75% to 7.9%
eBay will never ever be open and transparent about their "changes". You do the math! And eBay you will probably do it wrong because they only told you half of the story.
eBay wants you to make the calculation like auzcardtrader did above:
"I sell something for $500.
Before FVF = $26.25 NOW $39.5 "
Hmm, 50% more. Not nice.
But it is actually worse:
Before FVF = 5.25% x $75 = $3.94
+ 2.75% x $425 = $11.68
So 3.94 + 11.68 = $15.63
FVF before: $15.63
FVF after: $39.50
So eBay Australia almost triples the FVF when you sell a $500 item. That is something different than paying the 50% extra eBay wants you to believe!
But hey: what does it matter. Almost nobody will do the maths. So eBay gets away with it anyway.
YES, SOOO TRUE, THANK YOU auxfinesherbes, I OMITTED MYSELF, FORGOT ABOUT THE OLD FVF STRUCTURE, THE INCREASE for FVF IS YES, EXHORBITANT, NOT THE 50% MOST OF US THINK IT IS BUT A LOT LOT MORE (BASED UPON SELLING PRICE) !!!

One easy final value fee โ To enable eBay to offer this up front saving and simplified fee format, eBay is re-balancing and simplifying fees by slightly increasing final value fees โ from 5.25% to 7.9%. The final value fee will be capped at $49.95 for each of the first 30 listings per month
Taken from http://pages2.ebay.com.au/News/InsideSelling/September_2011_fee_changes_-_C2C_sellers
Note that, fees beyond the first block charged at 5.25% is later charged only at 2.75%
So the increase is actually from 2.75% to 7.9%, more than double.
The following taken from ACCC website.
What is misleading & deceptive conduct?
There is a very broad provision in the Australian Consumer Law that prohibits conduct by a corporation that is misleading or deceptive, or would be likely to mislead or deceive you.
It makes no difference whether the business intended to mislead or deceive youโit is how the conduct of the business affected your thoughts and beliefs that matters.
If the overall impression left by an advertisement, promotion, quotation, statement or other representation made by a business creates a misleading impression in your mindโsuch as to the price, value or the quality of any goods and servicesโthen the conduct is likely to breach the law.
Representations about price
The price of a good or service is often a good indication of its quality or its availability of supply. Price comparisons can also give you an indication of whether you are getting a good deal or a bargain.
There are also special laws relevant to price advertising and promotions. A business risks breaching the law if it:
makes inaccurate or misleading price comparisons (for example 'was' and 'now' prices)

Sellers Complain eBay Is Capping Listing Prices
[from Ecommerce News for October 17, 2011]
Could this be coming here? ....... keep an eye open.
Could be a way of reducing the amount of FREE listings a month - which they have already told us we will be paying for in the form of higher fvf's, within the Changes to meet buyer demand on eBay.com.au .

My percentage is 96.7% and you say you would not buy from someone with that result, [I WILL NOT BUY from someone with 98% feedback, will you? I do not want to become one of those TWO unlucky buyers...] it is of course your choice, but I suggest that buyers take a look at the feedback, as there are various reasons.
In my case, 2 buyers have caused this.
1 - Wanted to use a postage that I don't offer (Express) ... money refunded in full via PayPal, yet I got a neg from this buyer.
2 - Buyer purchased, left 5 on all DSR's gave a neg because they only wanted to pay the post stamp price only. The P&H was on listing in two places (on the listing & on the Post Tab).
These are the only two negs I have ever had, I do not think the reasons were my fault. The first one made his decision about what post rate he would pay and the other simply did not read what they were agreeing to. How can I win. I don't sell at lot on eBay so it may take years and years to get back a 100%.

We sellers are at the mercy of what buyers decide to leave us in fb, buyers have no training and their fb is usually 'left-in-place' & as it stands, by eBay (unless we get a court order). Same in the DSR's, I always know who leaves what on my DSR's, one buyer left rating 4 on everything, turns out she leaves the second choice for everyone on everything - NO TRAINING, so they don't know what they are doing. (This showed up because I posted on a Friday, by Registered Post, it arrived on the next, following, Monday - interstate, how could I get to her quicker?), yet I dropped one star from her on everything.
BTW It is not about what P&H is charged, it is about what a buyer agrees to pay (providing the P&H was on the listing).
PS.
With No.1 above, I sold the shoes for a greater price after this!
With No. 2, I gave the oportunity to the buyer to remove the fb, via ebay, no response. She may have saved herself from my reply to the fb on her fb page!
Thanks again for getting back to me.

The really sad thing about all this is that eBay don't give a toss what we say or do. The only time the mods step in is when we mention another auction site, they don't care about what we think about the changes. In fact it is my belief that there are no "human" mods involved with this topic, just "bots" that search for forbidden words. The only way to show ebay we are not going to take it is move. Sure, the big sellers may have to take a hit in sales for a while, but eventually the buyers will move with you.
SOOO TRUE !!! FRANKLY, MY DEAR, THOSE YANKS DO NOT GIVE A DAMN !!!
