G'day , the way ebay has set up feedback is open to abuse and is being abused , in particular I refer to the seller holding the buyer to ransom by with holding their feedback until after the buyer has received the goods and left their feedback ... ie. some days after the seller has completed their side of the transaction , once the buyer has paid for the goods + the seller has sent them , that is when from their perspective the deal is finished and when they should be leaving their feedback ... not days/weeks later , and not after the buyer . this system is open to + encourages the buyers to try and extort 5 stars when may well be not warranted.
I hope ebay close this loophole promptly ,
thanks , mal
The only loop hole in the feed back system is....when ebay decided that sellers can NO longer leave neut/neg feed back for buyers.....and I'm talking about buyers (can't really call them that) who DON't pay or communicate!! Not to mention the HUGE increase in non paying buyers once this stupid new system came into play.....do you think so many idiots would NOT pay if they were still able to receive warranted negative feed back???
What really makes me laugh is when I leave feed back ebay says "thank you for leaving the ebay community safe and informed" HA HA how can it be safe and informed when it is all one sided!!??

I totally agree.I have always given prompt feedback & find it rude that some sellers can't be bothered. What makes me mad is the fact that I always pay immediately on winning an item. That in itself should warrant feedback.I feel like giving up on leaving feedback.
It's not that sellers "can't be bothered" in my case I like to make sure my buyer has received their item/s and that all is good and they are happy...AND that Aus post haven't stuffed up a transaction.... I used to leave feed back as soon as payment was received....and guess what?! more often than not it is the buyer who "can't be bothered"....

Sellers often dont leave feedback until they know the transaction is complete.. the buyer has received goods and is satisfied.Typically, thats when the buyer leaves fedback. Till then, we dont know if the transaction is completed.

I had a very odd (to say the least) buyer who purchased some items from me a few months ago and never paid.
After 9 days if payment hasn't been received I then usually send 3 reminders within the week. Still then if no reply I open an NPI .
In this particular case I did just as I said above and the second the NPI hit the Buyers account she had sent me a Blah Blah Blah message. I explained she now had 7 days to make her payment or she may cancel the purchase if she prefered.....No reply.......sent it again......no reply.
Now this is a pearler.....
The 7 days were up and I closed the NPI resulting in her receiving 2 strikes on her account. The absolute second the NPI was closed I received a negitive FB....What a B..ach!!!!
I was so cross especially when she had not even bothered to reply to any emails, never even paid and had options to cancel obviously she had no intentions of paying in the first place.
I had to end up ringing eBay (that's not as easy as it sounds these days beleive me) and I told them I completely refused to accept the FB because she should never have been allowed to leave FB in the first place because she had never paid. Long story short yes eBay did remove it because an NPI had been lodged and so all ended well in the end.
So my tip here is ONLY give a buyer 9 days max to make payment and ALWAYS file an NPI on the 10th day. Then if ever they get the miffs because they get a strike for not paying and leave you a neg / neutral thinking they have the last laugh with the "take that" kind of attitude....Remember eBay WILL remove a neg or neutral FB but ONLY if an NPI was filed.
Good to know don't you think?

Feedback is not compulsory and it an idiosyncrasy for ebay, we do not get feedback score rating from our customers showing on our website nor do we have a listing of happy customer listed on our warehouse door as they leave, many people stress far too much on it.
As a seller we leave feedback on payment as we see it more as advertising so our customers can find us again in their own feedback list when they need us again.
Statistically, we only receive around 30% of returned feedback so around 70% don't bother and from my understanding 30% is a good result. This is compared to marketing companies who you can pay to do projects to check your services with your customers. These marketing companies are happy with averages of about 17% of people who respond to this type of campaign and this is with some sort of incentive attached to make the customer respond!
At the end of the day provide a fab product with great service, understand that a certain percentage of people will not pay you, know that you can not be 100% perfect as you cannot please absolutely everyone (even if you try too), behave in a professional manner and treat everyone the way you'd prefer to be treated and ebay will be fun 99% of the time. ๐

I have been selling on ebay for years and recently I notice buyers are leaving negative feedback or bad rating without contacting me for any issue(just received a neg. feedback today and the buyer never contact me for any problem). In the past, I usually contact the buyer first but they either not reply my emails or refuse to resolve the issue. What can sellers do? I don't think the feedback system is showng the true seller performance but nothing we could do. Ebay never listen to sellers.

and some sellers dont read these boards very well either, what is the point in dragging up a thread that is TWO YEARS OLD, to have a moan??

I agree with this i automatically leave good feedback after a buyer has paid and then check their feedback to me to check they got the item.If need be i then respond to that feedback from them. Its true as sellers we cant leave a "problem" alert and thats actually really unfair.I refuse to be extorted over feedback ironically the one negative i got with my response " we refunded immediately as goods were damaged" is the best confidence a buyer can have from us.
