Hi All... Bought an expensive handbag and the seller was wonderful and said due to immediate payment she would post it immediately by Express Post... Well I've been tracking it and it said yesterday on route with delivery driver.... then said delivered... however didn't get delivered to me... 😞
I've checked the address with the Seller - All Good - I've called Australia Post and lodged a query as to where it was delivered... I've called them back this afternoon and they said no news yet try again tomorrow... What if it's been delivered to the wrong address and they don't hand it back... I hate the fact that the Seller sent it and all details were correct but they didn't deliver it to the correct address.. I know it's early days but I've got a really bad feeling I won't see this bag... anyone else had the same problem but did in fact get the parcel turn up?
All things crossed ... 🙂

Lol a dilemma indeed.
I reckon that if you bid on that other bag, your MIA parcel will likely turn up soon after .

yep Murphy's Law 🙂 No I think I'll wait and see... I just called PayPal to get their advice and the guy was lovely and said leave it with me... now he's put a claim in and my file is in the Resolution Centre... I just feel awful... I hope they don't ping her for this it wasn't her fault... but at the same time... I've paid out good money and it wasn't my fault either... such a horrible situation 😞
If she'd have sent it in a red satchel they would have left a card and I could have collected from the Post Office but coz it was Express Post (which costs more) there is no card no knock on the door no nothing... crazy system Australia Post ???
I wish she'd just sent it "signature required" - I wouldn't have minded waiting the extra time... at least you know you will get it eventually. I should have asked her to send registered post ... just didn't think... paid my $15 for postage and thought yay I feel spoilt ... new handbag for me LOL

Meh ... what can you do.
I know it might seem tuff when AP is at fault for the disappearance - but for a more expensive item, it really is up to the seller to either list it with higher post cost covering insurance or signature requirement or in the absence of that send it by an appropriate method of post regardless of post paid if they are not prepared to take a loss. So the method of post is in the senders hands and they have quite a few choices to make when they list.
As a seller whilst I know I have paypal seller protection as I send everything with proof of post - I would not be irresponsible enough with expensive goods that buyers have purchased in good faith to send using a post method that is inappropriate for its value if by chance it was lost or damaged in transit.

Good luck, I hope you get your bag! I recently had the exact same thing happen, however I have a padlock on my mailbox and only envelopes can fit through the slot. I do this on purpose so that parcels get carded and taken back to the PO.
Not so with a recent express post parcel - tracking on website said 'delivered' although I never received it. Aus Post questioned the postie a week and a half or so later, and he reckons he remembered putting it in my mail box......yeah right, I live in a street with heaps of apartment building, there must be loads of parcels every day in my street alone. I pointed out that I also have a lock on my mailbox however that got me nowhere.
In the end, my only option was to do a Paypal claim, however I didn't feel the seller should lose out or have to fight Paypal to keep their funds either since I believe they had posted the items. In the end the seller gave me a half refund and we split the loss and moved on - by then neither of us were keen to drag it out any longer with a Paypal claim for the sake of $50 (or $25 out of pocket each).
Meanwhile, good old Aus Post just gets away with not providing the service they're being paid for, and complaints fall on deaf ears (well mine did anyway).

Oh that's no good mossvegas - but I know where you're coming from... the amount of people that are saying that they are not getting parcels.. or parcels delivered to incorrect addresses etc etc... and Aust Post just seem to get away with it? There is even a website about Aust Post with heaps of grumbles etc on there too... then there's the Ombudsman but it seems that AP are a law unto themself... and we are at their mercy cos there's no one else to use... they've just called me with an automotive "how did we do" survey .. OMG - Please give us a rating between 0 - 10 whether you would recommend us to your family and friends - 0 ... and it just went on... then at the end it asked me to give a reason why I'd quoted 0 for their survey... so I rambled on and on about no-one cared... I have to do all the ringing... no one follows up etc etc... and it's not even December yet... imagine it's only going to get worse... well I'm hoping either the bag turns up or PayPal do something (I've never had a claim with them) but I don't want the Seller to miss out either so hopefully we can work it all out.. I only called PayPal for advice and they escalated my payment to a claim without asking me?? Ah well at least they're working on it ... more than you can say for AP !!

Australia Post will not start an official Missing Parcel enquiry until 14 days after the item was posted.
I had a small parcel posted in Adelaide on a Saturday morning, so it would not have left the PO till the Monday but it should have arrived in Sydney by the Thursday or Friday. The following Monday I contacted the seller who immediately contacted the PO and they refused to even start looking till the next Monday.
The tracking showed that it had never left the PO at all and I believe it was still there, but no, AP would not even look.

With the advent of tracking now available with most parcels this is no longer the case anymore lyndal - as evidenced by AP facebook page and recent random postings of AP stafff on these threads.
AP investigations are usually opened on request now if articles sent have tracking and the tracking is indicating something is amiss.
Of course you can still strike an AP rep that is not helpful, and gives misinformation regarding the missing or damaged parcel processes.

Update ... still no bag 😞
Aust Post actually had the nerve to do an automated response to their "service" hmmmm didn't go down to well... Please rate us from 0 - 10 on whether you would recommend us to your family and friends ummmm 0
then why have you given us a zero rating? well I just went on and on and on ..... also when you ring you wait ages to speak to someone and then they huff and puff as if you're ruining their day... well excuse me Mr .. you're not the one out of pocket for $165 here... so now PayPal update
As I said I spoke to James at PayPal and he chatted away and said leave it to me... I then found out that he'd not only disputed the transaction but upped it to a claim. My poor seller is pulling out her hair as she is selling and her items are finishing soon ... PayPal have completely barred her account... I said I didn't do it but she is pretty mad and I don't blame her... so I think I'll have to get back in there and close the claim as it's not her fault ... think I've done my $$ but if it should show up I will let you know...
Now.... should I bid on this other bag hmmmmm.... my other half will kill me !!!
20 mins to go... decisions decisions 🙂

I am not going to go near encouraging you to purchase another bag ..... I don't think you need much coaxing in that area
Re the sellers account - IMO Paypal is most likely to have put a temporary hold on the funds you paid for the bag. That is all, it has likely given the seller a bit of a shock, and they may not understand what has actually occurred.
If the funds were not in the sellers account at the time, any payments going in will be held in lieu of that amount. It does not stop a seller trading.
Just my opinion - but If Paypal has really restricted and completely barred the sellers account I sure as heck would not be closing a claim, IMO its a very, very clear signal by Paypal that this seller has had problems with similar not received claims in the past. Its probably not the case though and the seller may have just dramatised the situation a tad.
