Hi,
I am just wondering why some sellers don't leave feedback for buyers until after the buyer has left feedback for them?

I'm sorry at the moment I have other things to do, this subject was not as important as it seems to be to you
again it was my opinion when feedback should be left, so please respect that
By starting this thread and asking why some sellers do not leave feedback when you think they should you have started a discussion and asked for other opinions.
Maybe you should have stated right from the start that you only wanted opinions that agreed with yours.
This is a public forum and you are always going to get different opinions, delivered with different degrees of intensity.

and again It is simply my opinion on feedback, and to be honest I am flabbergasted at the way my opinion has been responded to, it seems to me that some people seem to have a problem on here when someone simply expresses an opinion that may differ from there own
regardless of that though, I have my opinion and I intend to keep it
That's where the trouble is coming from - I think you are completely misunderstanding my intention for responding to you here.
I have my opinions about feedback too, and I respect that feedback means different things to different people, the difference is I relate my opinions about feedback only to me and when I leave it, not when other people "should" leave it (there is no "should" when it comes to a voluntary action). That is what people - or at least I - take exception to. Not that you have a different opinion, but that you are suggesting other people follow that opinion by the inference that other people should leave feedback at the point when - in your opinion - they should.
For what it's worth, if you take eBay's feedback tutorial and choose "The buyer has paid, so the seller should leave feedback first" as the answer to the question on feedback timing, the response is "Sorry! That's incorrect!" - That's not me saying it, that's eBay...

May be seen by some that way, but I have seen buyers state they dislike receiving feedback from seller's before they've given it - they said they actually feel obligated to return the positive comment and are less inclined to leave honest feedback if something wasn't quite right. Some even suggested it showed a lack of confidence in the product to leave feedback on payment because they suddenly felt obligated to return nothing but positive.
So, since it's completely impractical for a seller to message every buyer and ask them how they feel about feedback, when they would like it etc, the best thing a seller can do is choose what's best for them.

I am not really fussed about what other sellers do - nor what a few regulars think of my opinion which is that those sellers that wait to leave to feedback until a buyer leaves it for them, may be seen by some as not demonstrating a high level of confidence in their product or buyers in general.
PJ. The high level of confidence I have in my product is that I have a no questions asked refund policy. Change your mind, dont like it, doesnt match your curtains ? send it back for immediate refund. I only get maybe one in three hundred customers take up the offer !!! Do I have confidence in all buyers ? 99 % are great. Its the 1 percenters that worry me.

Lol I think I have seen one or two comments saying that on the boards DG- but seen countless other comments, hundreds over time from sellers and buyers saying their expectation is that sellers should leave feedback first for reasons that I think are fair enough and good practice. I will run with that, works for me.

something I have learnt amongst other things from eBay tonight is that sellers can only leave positive feedback about buyers, so if a buyer knows that a seller can only leave positive feedback, why does it matter when or if they leave they leave it?
It matters very much to some buyers, for some they consider it simply good manners.

I know if I let that 1% dictate my life I wouldn't get out of bed in the morning, although in my case it might be 5%
I guess though if you know you are right, and someone does the wrong thing by you, you still know that you did the right thing
It gets back to we can't be responsible for the way others behave, but if we do the right thing, then we should be at peace
