Items being marked up by up to 600% by unscrupulous seller

I have been trying to find plants on eBay which I have been unable to source locally - I have found them with a particular seller and the price is fairly reasonable.  However, I have noticed that this shop is selling or trying to sell other (tubestock) plants I am familiar with which you can buy at Bunnings for less than $7 for nearly $50 plus postage.

I have advised them of my concerns through "contact seller" option for a number of these listings without a single response.  The prices of these particular items have not been amended to something more reasonable either.  I have made it clear to them that I am not soliciting any sort of deal for myself by pointing out these items, and I am loathe to support them by purchasing the plants which I actually do wish to purchase.

In a nutshell, I can't find a way to report an unscrupulous seller unless I have purchased the item in question from them.  Can anyone advise me if there is a way to report a seller like this before they take in unsuspecting plant lovers, without having to purchase from them?  It certainly seems that I will have to forgo buying the plants I want because of this awkward situation.  This seller sells many different products, not just plants, so heaven knows how many people are at risk of being "ripped off".

Does eBay ever audit sellers?  I am more than happy to name the seller if that is allowed.

Oh for heavens' sake, grow up. I would not have questioned even up to triple the price at Bunnings. I do question a price of more than six times what Bunnings charge and then postage on top of that!

You are obviously a seller or store owner. Perhaps you need to get a real job and find out what work is before you ask me if I work for nothing. The aggro I have encountered for asking a simple question tells me that there are a lot of people out there who know they are doing the wrong thing morally, even if it is somehow legal.

I have a real job thanks. About 60 hours a week worth. For which I expect to be paid. Just like I expect to make a profit (not always successfully) selling on eBay.

Have you tried 600% markup?

As you already know the seller is 'doing the wrong thing'

And you know what jobs other posters do or do not have

And you are an expert on other poster's moral and ethics, it seems a moot point to ask in the first place

It should'nt matter what anyone here says when you know so much about them'

As for the aggro, seems you are the only one allowed to show that towards others. Or is telling people to grow up, get a real job and that they have no ethics suppose to be friendly afternoon chit chat?

Did you expect us all to nod and agree 'oh it is a terrible thing to do to the elderly'

Why even bring that into it?  Curious as to what age a person hits and is magically entitled to special treatmeant and consideration when using eaby?

Should ebay sellers include in their ads special offer for those (over x age) ? if not why mention age at all?

Whatever, I'm only middle aged so I should'nt have an opinion

Is your real name Richard Cranium? Your justifications are just "ludicrous", to quote someone else here with a big vocabulary.

Re: Items being marked up by up to 600% by unscrupulous seller

Thank you for your politeness. The fact that this board has made me impolite is not a point in its favour. If you go all the way back to my first post I was polite and asked for help/advice. A simple "Unfortunately it isn't possible to complain about an item you haven't personally had an issue with" would have sufficed. Instead I have been made to feel that questioning a price, caring about others or having an opinion makes me mentally defective and good for a bit of a laugh for those present who enjoy being bullies. I think I am right and stick to my guns and THAT is wrong? But it is not wrong for the "defenders of the sellers"? I no longer just take that type of attitude and I am just as nasty and smart ar###e right back. I used the terms "elderly" and "vulnerable" and it appears those words are just joke fodder. Something wrong with that for sure.

Anyway.....

The item that I did want to buy numbered 100 plants, the actual price was OK and the postage was approximately 25% of the cost of the plants, which is also reasonable for the weight of the product and packaging - the cost for one item, which from memory was just over $10 (the item consisting of 4 small plants in one pot divided into four compartments) would be just about right I think. They aren't trying to cover postage with a product markup, if that is what you are saying.

People who live remotely like myself are willing to pay a bit extra for things not available locally and we are more than aware that postage and packaging isn't cheap - but a poster further down even makes a nasty little joke out of that. Helpful? I think not.

But again thank you springyzone. I think many here will be happy if I don't become a regular!

Thank you for the info. Google was not much help for B&M meaning.

I wasn't sticking up for anyone in particular, but yes I'll stick up for you provided doing so makes sense to me.

I had no real expectations of what eBay might do, though seeing as it was so difficult to get any answers clicking around the site itself, and I had to come to this board in an attempt to find out if there was an avenue for my concerns did hint to me that those "on high" wouldn't care on the basis of, as you say, they're making money for them. I held out a small hope that at least concerns could be lodged somehow and that I had been unable to find the correct link or whatever.

Just proves you are never to old to learn, I'm sad to say.
