Pick up item

I wanted to buy an item and it is a pick up locally. The item was listed on Gumtree a while back and I was thinking of buying it then but had a slight discrepancy with seller so forgot about it.
If I buy item she will figure out its me and could dig her heels in and possibly cancel the sale(I'm not sure if she can do this)
I do have to go and pick up and am a bit apprehensive about it. She seems very fussy and demanding i. e. argued I couldn't take item on bus as it was too large which was rubbish. You can also make offer on item.

I'll be the one with the b...... cops at her door if she wants to get smart. Don't worry it's crossed my mind. The woman needs a welfare check.

Field mice are my favourite. They're cute! That's the 4 legged type.  However, 2 legged type that enter into politics and incite ill will against their fellow human beings just because they have a different complexion or religion, I have no time for!

Re: Pick up item

Thank you for you polite response. Similar to others who have not been instructed to pull their heads in.

On defamation, how is your casting aspersions and attributing attitudes to a seller not defamation? By what seems to be your definition, at least.

Well she won't communicate with me. So my dear little grand child will go without.

It can't be that hard.

Re: Pick up item

If she isn't communicating, it could well be that she is not interested in offers or alternatively, not interested in the offers you made.

Your only option may be to buy at full price.

However, think this through. If you are having trouble getting her to answer any messages, it could be hell trying to arrange a pick up time etc

You might be much better off looking elsewhere. Your grandchild won't even know about it and it doesn't mean he or she will go without, I am sure you can find something else similar.

Are you able to tell us the name of the ad or the item, we might be able to help you find a nice alternative or even help work out how best for you to transport it.

There's ebay, gumtree and you could even ask on some of your local facebook buy & sell sites.

Michelle is a good sort Lyndal. One of the most pleasent / polite people here and there's nothing wrong with the way she deals with sellers! Seller's loss if they decide not to deal with her.

On what gounds though?

I don't think the police will be very empathetic if you contact them, tell them you're angry a seller on ebay is ignoring you, and you want their assistance to... what, exactly? Go 'round her place and and yell at her for it? Maybe you should contact someone in law enforcement (non-emergency contact) and ask for their advice with regards to this situation. Someone with some real authority talking to you about it could help.

If not that, then let's just leave aside whether that's actually a rational thing to do for a moment - what makes you think you'd be safe rocking up at a strangers house to "confront" them about not responding to an eBay offer? They might have a low tolerance for that sort of thing and a disposition that makes it dangerous, they could have friends / family who are less understanding and more confrontational than you, they might even have a pet who won't just sit there while their owner is being berated (even the most placid of dogs can turn into an extremely dangerous animal if they are defending an owner).

And unless this woman has said something bad about you publicly, in a way that clearly identifies exactly who you are to others, and damages your reputation but is provably untrue, you have absolutely no basis for a defamation case.

@michellebartley,

You are speaking tongue-in-cheek, aren't you?

If so, it's hilarious and I applaud your deadpan sense of humour. I am reminded of the style of Paul Foot as we plunge into the world of magic surrealism.

If not - no, I'm not going to think about "if not". There is really nothing that I would be happy to post in response in such a case. Schweigen ist Gold
