Some searches are a joke.

Why would a site set up categories so that gullible members can be deliberately  ripped off?

The worst part is that there are more listings put on as time goes by and some gullible Aussie sellers buy

bulk lots and then sell these frauds.shok.gif

Re: Some searches are a joke.

I see from a search that the US irradiate seeds, so that would kill them for sure

I found this 4 yo thread I thought was interesting

https://community.ebay.com.au/t5/Buying/Trouble-wwith-Australian-Customs-seeds/td-p/149156

And Customs Permitted Seeds List.   Just didn't want to spend 3 weeks reading it

Re: Some searches are a joke.

I think there was a garden group, possibly in Victoria, who bought different fake seeds to see what they got. Most that grew, grew into weeds. When they researched the weeds, some of them didn't exist here, so they burnt them. One has to wonder how many other bad stuff has been introduced when people either don't plant them all and chuck them, or they leave them to grown and when they realise they're weeds, they forget about them and they seed everywhere.

I'm guessing most would be labelled as a gift or as a sample for a student. They must be wrapped in a way that the dogs don't get them. I'm surpised that the drug importers haven't come up with the same method!

Re: Some searches are a joke.

To be honest I think they look horrible.....I like my strawberries to be a nice bright red.

Yes, I think most people do but I would not be surprised if they sold some seeds for the novelty value-people thinking how different blue strawberries might be on their pav etc

Then if they fail to grow, I am guessing most people would blame themselves because they are probably not savvy gardeners. If they were, they wouldn't have fallen for the ad in the first place.
