Hello all,
I hope this message somehow makes it to the incomprehensible people who run ebay, but on what planet does it make sense to stop me seeing seller information when I'm looking for items to buy??? Haven't they thought I like seeing whether a seller I have used before is in the search results of an item I am looking for? And what the hell does "Shop with confidence" mean? Are they kidding me? They replace the seller's name with the stupidly ironic joke of "Shop with confidence" when confidence is instilled when I have the seller's information there in the search results and they have just removed it? And why is it that other countries get all the relevant transparent information they want in their search results but we don't hey???
There is a reason ebay is losing money and market share and they better wake up and listen to customers. It boggles my mind they make changes that alienate customers with no option for those customers to tweak or change these settings to suit. Plenty of other marketplaces out there these days.
Oh and why is there still no way to change the item listing layout back to the old 3 pane appearance of photos on the left, description, postage, how fast they post, how many sold etc in the middle and seller info on the right? Again LESS INFORMATION is now available to a potential customer. I used to like ebay for it's detail and now that detail has gone along with my motivation to continue buying from it. I only use ebay now when I absolutely have to because so many other platforms give us what we're after, and at least respond to us when we contact them and ask questions or provide feedback. Every time I contact ebay or related forums looking for information about ebay settings there's just nothing. It leaves the impression that nobody gives a damn in the company and people in forums and stuff that used to know inside tips and tricks are leaving. Pretty disappointing. I used to get a lot of joy and good results using ebay and now it's just going downhill.
Anyway. Maybe someone in ebay will read and respond to this but I seriously doubt it. I honestly don't think there's anyone working within this company that cares about their company or their customers any more.
Cheerio.

By the way, the "Seller Information" box is ticked (and reticked and reticked etc LOL) under Customise Your Search menu with no effect whatsoever. I don't see how making my job of sourcing products harder by creating more work for me to check out each listing individually to see who and where the sellers are helps anyone buyer or seller. I just don't have the time when I'm sifting through multiple listings looking for something. I need more information at a glance NOT LESS. And the fact is other platforms are giving me that - they are making my job sourcing products easier, whereas ebay seems to find new ways to make it more laborious and time consuming. Do ebay staff think there are no alternatives for sellers and buyers?

Ok look I'm trying to find ways around this, but I just sadly realised that I actually cannot use ebay to find the products I need in a way that is time effective for me. I tried playing with it just now and I just realised I can't see enough at glance to be able to properly sort through several listings and buy anything. I just can't go through every single listing individually. I need to see search results with enough information to compare at a glance. Most other platforms have search results with enough information for me to see at a glance and not waste time. I just can't see how to use ebay now except for somehow trying to find sellers I've dealt with in the past. Unless I try and use picclick or something, but I think this is pretty much end of the road.

How does ebay expect people to use this? I'm at a loss. I don't know where things are located, I don't know anything about the seller, don't how fast they post, don't know whether they have good or bad feedback...

Ebay may read here, but they won't respond.
Others have gotten the same results you have, but I have not noticed any change in my searches.

Uhmm, just out of curiosity, after checking the seller info box in customise, have you bothered to hit the apply changes tab. Works a treat and is functioning correctly.

I think there's going to be a lot of posts about the new interface.
Add your comments to the thread shown in imastawka's post which will hopefully keep all comments in one thread.

I don't like it either.
I am pretty sure ebay monitors this site but they don't interact with us.
I don't think they care that much about our opinions, they have their own vision in mind.
What I am seeing is that they are trying to highlight the products. Just the product. They couldn't care less who you buy it from or what that seller is like or where that seller is located, they just want to tempt you to buy something.
You get to see more seller details, but only when you click into the actual individual ad.
But when you do a general search, the only thing clickable link is for the product title.
That's exactly what they want, they don't want you to focus on who the seller is at all.

I had another thought.
Some time ago, a friend attended an ebay meeting for sellers, where the ebay speakers tossed around the concept of having ebay warehouses in each capital city.
Not every item listed on ebay would be in the warehouse, but medium/big sellers who had multiples of items would have them in the nearest warehouse and ebay itself would monitor the sales and postage & handling, all under CCTV.
Very Amazon in concept. Or like Catch, where most things are in their warehouse but some come from independent retailers.
I don't know if ebay has totally ditched that idea or not. I suspect not, it is probably still a 'maybe'. If so, then the seller details would become less important in ebay's eyes because they themselves would be responsible for making sure they had stock of that item, wrapping, postage times and so on.
Maybe they are slowly gearing up their website in case they do make such a change.

Agree, this, I have found some dodgy sellers and filter them out by name when I am looking. I would never buy from them again but now it’s become harder to filter. I buy not only the product but the seller too! I need confidence from the seller not eBay or AI. Maybe they will go back … I can only hope. Best of luck to us all.
