What is wrong with some sellers???

Over the past fortnight I have sent five courteous  emais to different sellersl with a question, via their selling site.

Asking things like measurements which are not included on their listing.

Not one has responded.   And, incidentally, none of the items got a bid.

I give up.....if the details aren't listing I will just go onto sellers who can be bothered giving details with their listings.

Good choice.

If they are lax on questions, they are probably lax on service if probs arise. Smiley Wink

THE OTHER SIDE OF THE EQUATION

I hope your polite, courteous messages where not like the one I got yesterday. I have a very large 1800,s photograph with card mounting for sale at the moment. "polite" buyer sends the following ,message. " Why is your postage so expensive ? You should be able to mail that for $3.00 . "

I DID send a polite explanation that the item was too large to go as a large letter and had to be sent as a parcel. I went on to explain that a large letter over 250gm. now costs $5.00 plus 50 cents for priority sticker, plus $3.00 for tracking, plus ebays 10% commission on all of the above.

After sleeping on it I decided to "politely" pop the messenger on my special list. I then ended the auction and relisted the item as a BIN for double the price. ( it was cheap enough at the auction starting price )   Its buyers like that who usually ding your stars or want returns "just because they can" . These sorts of rude messages seem to be becoming more common and frankly I just cant be bothered dealing with people like this all day.

Re: What is wrong with some sellers???

there really is no excuse not to answer sensible questions from buyers.

however if you ever decide to sell on ebay you will quickly discover how many idiot buyers are out there asking the most stupid questions and making rediculous offers.

then theres the ones who want to tell you how much it should cost to post an item to then and how to pack it. those are the ones if you follow their instruction would be opening INAD case against you when their item arrived damaged.

every long time seller has a list of buyers they will not deal with and it gets longer every week.

i'm sorry if you had some sellers not answer your questions, thee are bad sellers and bad buyers on ebay, all you can do is not deal with the bad ones as there are many more good ones.

cheers

Re: What is wrong with some sellers???

I sold a new sealed Blu-ray a few weeks ago. I usually send these in a C5 letter (not tracked) with stiff cardboard on one side only to ensure is stays within the 20mm thickness limit.

The low feedback buyer gave me instructions that I need to photograph the actual disc, sandwich it between 2 pieces of cardboard, then wrap it in bubble wrap. This would have bumped it up to a parcel rate, which I wasn't prepared to wear the cost of.

I explained the way I usually send movies out, and have not had an issue in the past, and I recieved a reply that it better reach him in mint condition.

It was a little out of my way, but I hand delivered it to his letter box, as I was sure if I didn't I would be hit with a red dot.

Re: What is wrong with some sellers???

Then there's the buyers who do pay your postage asking price but then complain about it in feedback.

They have me baffled.... It was ok to pay it when they purchased, but it was too expensive after it arrives.

How does that work?

Re: What is wrong with some sellers???

After receiving some very poorly packed delicate items I am guilty of sometimes (sometimes) requesting a seller pack a certain way. Goes like this ...please pop it into a plastic bag before the outer packaging to help protect it in the heavy rain (So subject to the weather)

With a thank you and an "if possible"

If the seller's feedback shows they are careful I don't say anything

Re: What is wrong with some sellers???

With the postage complainers it could be they don't understand packaging costs as well (plus eBay fees)

see the postage on the parcel and think the seller's made a bit more extra
