embargo restriction

Hi,

Does anyone know if Australia currently have embargo on cargoes from pakistan? I ask because I've just recently ordered a large harp from pakistan but just before the date the seller promised to ship the item he msged me saying that his airline notified him that due to embargo restriction that Australian goverment has imposed my harp will be on hold. Just a week ago that same person reassured me that I'd be able to receive the harp by next week now he's changing his words. Did Australia recently impose any new sanctions? When I searched some flights from Australia to pakistan it still seemed airlines were accepting flights from pakistan

Ps. Is there any way I can cancel the order now?

Not without the seller agreeing to it, and they may well charge a fee if they do (particularly as it was a custom order).

Btw I used my credit card not paypal

That's not a problem because you're still covered by eBay's MBG. But in future why not pay by Paypal with your credit card then you'll have 3 layers of protection ?

Can anyone explain to me how MBG works?

So basically I can lodge this within 30days from ETD and I guess item is eligible for MBG as long as there is MBG icon on the listing? Also is MBG same as item not received or return case? Can I open them simultaneously? In my case which is more suitable, MBG or item not received?

All eBay purchases are cover by the MBG if you pay by an approved method (Paypal/credit card etc).

The MBG covers INR's and "not as described", you only open one or the other - in your case "item not received".

Why would they charge a fee? They said they only charge for item and shipping and custom is between me and the government. Last time I cancelled overseas order before being shipped ebay refunded me whole amount without any additional fee (although the amount was short by around 15aud due to foreign exchange rate)

Firstly because they can say it's a "change of mind" cancellation, and secondly because it's a custom order. If they haven't sent it yet they may waive the fees, but they are entitled to charge you them.

It may not be an embargo as such, but there are major  disruptions to the majority of international shipping.

AP has just imposed temporary suspension of parcel services to Pakistan,  due to limited flights etc, suspension expected to remain until 17/12.    So it would be logical if restrictions also apply from Pakistan end.

Services suspended to selected countries

3 December 2021

We are temporarily suspending parcel delivery to Malaysia, Philippines, India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan due to limited flight capacity and availability. Courier and letter services will remain available during this suspension period. Items sent prior to 3 December will still be delivered though delays should be expected.  We expect to resume delivery to these destinations on 17 December 2021 and apologise for any inconvenience caused.
