Anyone else into seeking their ancestors?

I have become adicted to Ancestry.com and am lucky enough that one side of my family can be researched way back into the dim times.

The other side has hit a brick wall and I have to wait until someone else in the world may have more information.

How is everyone else going?

Re: Anyone else into seeking their ancestors?

Izzy, I suspect 'non-conformist' is ' One who does not conform to, or refuses to be bound by, accepted beliefs, customs, or practices.'

In your case it is probably referring to religion, so wasn't buried in the Protestant or Roman Catholic sections of the cemetary.

At last I have found http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk. It's take me ages to wake up the fact it is a govt site ... Duh me! ๐Ÿ™‚

Now I can go over a whole lot of stuff and double check things...

Well, it said rain today, but so far it is sunny so much go cut some grass.

See ya later... hope that baby isn't too far away flashie ๐Ÿ™‚

Darkie....that link is the one I posted in here ages ago asking if someone could help me figure out how to use the 1911 census part of it.

It is an excellent site......I know it is pay per view......but you can fiddle with it enough to confirm informatin without it costing anything.

Is there any way to get BDM information for Victoria without having to pay for each search?

Re: Anyone else into seeking their ancestors?

Rosie ....the only other way would be to go into the archives and look up the parish records on microfilm.

have you tried looking up the family notioces on Trove......that can be a good source of information.

Re: Anyone else into seeking their ancestors?

I had a feeling you had put up the link ages ago flashie, but I never seemed able to get into it.

Now I can I still can't find anyone I want to research... sigh.. nevertheless I will keep trying...

Trove has been okay for my mother and her family for two generations, but that's been that.

My father's mother's family has been out here a while, but no convicts ๐Ÿ˜ž

At present I am just filling in rellies and waiting for more on my father's ancestors.

Have tried Trove - no luck there.

I am searching for my OH's grandmother's birth - I am starting to wonder if she really existed. Have her marriage record with parents names, which differ from the names on her death certificate - but none of them come up in any searches.
