Anyone else into seeking their ancestors?

I have become adicted to Ancestry.com and am lucky enough that one side of my family can be researched way back into the dim times.

The other side has hit a brick wall and I have to wait until someone else in the world may have more information.

How is everyone else going?

Hi, I watched a thread recently where some very knowledgable people helped someone find family members and I am hoping to get some ideas from you on where to find info.

My husband's sister Cheryl Ann Morgan died on November 11, 1987 around the Childers Queensland area in a car accident, leaving behind one daughter whose name is Sheree (unsure of the spelling), Sheree (sp) would be pushing 50 now and my husband would like to find what happened to her.

I am trying to do this on the quiet and that is pretty much all the info I have, where do I start?

Re: Anyone else into seeking their ancestors?

Smurf.....I have a policy of not looking for living people.....sorry.

Nothing is showing on Ancestry or Trove for a Sharee Morgan.

I would suggest you go to your local archives and read through the BMD notices and maybe the electoral roles.

Trove only goes up to mid 1950's and the electoral roles on ancestry go the 1980.

Re: Anyone else into seeking their ancestors?

I can't help either but Sheree, could also be spelt Cherie, Cheree Cherye or any other spelling.  I have also head of Cherry, being pronounced 'sheree'.  It would be very hard to trace her I think unless you know someone in the area who might give a lead.

Re: Anyone else into seeking their ancestors?

I should also say that you could put ads in the local area that she was in and city newspapers in Qld in the hope someone may know where she is now.

Re: Anyone else into seeking their ancestors?

Hi smurf ๐Ÿ™‚  Just been Googling to see if I could find anything for you...

I have tried:  Road death Cheryl Ann Morgan 1987, but could not find her... still you could keep cruising around with different suggestions, like 'Road Deaths Qld 1987' and see what comes up

Other than that it's what the others have suggested.  You could also contact the Childers Police Station and ask if they have records of the accident, explaining you wish to try and find the victim's daughter.

They might help you.

Good luck ๐Ÿ™‚

Smurfette I have also been looking but can find nothing. I would suggest the first step would be to find the death notices in the newspaper and find the correct spelling for Sheree.Hopefully there is one that says mother of ......., Otherwise you could just go in circles for a long time. How old would sheree have been at the time of he mums death? Who got the death certificate, it will be on there? Good luck
