Maybe best to re-read my post........I Said throughout the Victorian crisis, I was keeping my opinions to myself as I understood it was all a fairly new ballgame and a difficult time for Victorians. I also accepted some mistakes would be made.
My patience and understanding of the Dan Andrews general handling of the crisis ran out when his key senior advisers indicated Andrews was lying to the enquiry set up to investigate failures in Victoria's COVID response. It reminded me of a naughty little school boy, lying to the teacher saying " He done it ". It was at that point that I expressed my views on Andrews failures, something many here seem to find difficult to face up too.
anyway, if the situation in SA gets worse (they've only reported one case so far today) we'll probably close our border to SA
I'd say that Andrews didn't really want to go into lockdown.. but had to as the spread here worsened... there was plenty to be learned by the other states by what happened in Vic
South Australia, has been here before and was one of the first administrations to face a COVID outbreak in Australia. The Governments response was to go into a fairly hard lockdown early, along with record levels of testing and tracing. This ongoing policy has proved very effective in past outbreaks in assisting SA to contain the virus before it gets out of control. South Australia has shown that going early and hard gives the best chances of controlling outbreaks. If South Australia can learn anything from Victoria it the dangers of dilly dallying around and failing to take action quickly. Dan Andrews Should have the border closed now. Other states have done it. I truly hope Victorians don't have to go through many months of lockdowns due to poor government decisions. It would be truly devastating for the state.

Definitely not complaining Debra, just referencing those ( in particular Stawka who has Kudo'd your post) who made very direct posts, claiming I was not affected by border closures and Dan Andrews COVID response in general so had no right to comment on the issue. ( Just shows it doesnt pay to make assumptions Stawka, you really know very little about those who post here and assumptions are often wildly innacurate
)
Like Victorians who where asked to adhere to draconian containment measures, I accepted border closures and there effect on my family as a vital strategy to controlling the spread of the virus. Like others on these forums I understood the virus was totally out of control in Victoria and harsh measures where required to contain it. I was accepting of the direct costs to my family and business of those responses.
I just cant get my head around the fact that during the Victorian COVID outbreak, people where not allowed to leave home, except for a few direct reasons and even then, remain within 5 km. of their home, but some-one from Salsibury Adelaide at the centre of this outbreak can hop in a car and drive through Victorian country towns, stopping for fuel and refreshments and visit relatives in Melbourne, going out to pubs for dinner, shop in the malls for Christmas goodies etc.
For heavens sake, Victorians have had to endure enough already. I get it that South Australia was the first state to announce re-opening its border with Victoria at day 14 of donuts, ( following the science to the letter ) but WHY would an administration risk puting Victorians through all of that again now that S.A. has had a sizable outbreak ?
No, it doesn't pay to make assumptions Chameleon.
There was more than one part of Debra's post to kudo and this is the bit I kudoed -
It appears almost bizarre to me that Dan Andrews would risk going through all of that again by his tardy response to the South Australian outbreak.
When I press the kudo button it's not always the whole post that I agree with and I thought it was the same for everyone.
Mind you, I'm in Melbourne with Debra, so agree with just about everything she says about Covid atm
Dan better not be slack and get that damn border closed, we now have 18 days of zero/zero

what we've learned from SA so far, is that it made no difference having ADF personnel transporting HQ travellers, and that security guards are still able to contract the virus from HQ and spread it to their families

you do realize don't you Chameleon that the whole country went into lockdown pretty quickly after Ruby Princess passengers took the virus to every state...oh and NSW (like Vic) also doesn't have it's border closed to SA ATM

This virus is a life and death situation, and shouldn't be used as a political tool to attack politicians from other states whom you don't like

"It appears almost bizarre to me that Dan Andrews would risk going through all of that again by his tardy response to the South Australian outbreak."
I just didn't highlight it in my post when i responded to it...
anyway, no-one has to explain why they give kudos to a post... it's bizarre to me that someone whould check to see who gave someone else kudos for a post

Deb, I probably didn't recognize it as Chameleon's cos his posts are so long winded and boring to the point of sleep inducing.
I give a kudo for many reasons.
Some are just to acknowledge that I have read them.
Some to support the poster's point of view, and I agree with it, and lots cos they make me chuckle.
But why I give them and who I give them to shouldn't come into it.
I also thought it bizarre that Chameleon checked who gave you a kudo.
I thought only 4Channel did weird things like that.

And to save anyone the trouble of checking who gave the above kudo to stawks it was moi as I agree with ev everything there particularly the first line about yawn worthy boring and the last about weirdness.

queing all day long to get tested!
but, i feel the testing stations should have been open 24 hours a day
If they have to wait 12 hours to be tested - has their Government become complacent regarding standby supports or have the Government been just heeding " heath expert adviser's" that choose not to bring attention to backup systems
12 hours wait to be tested in response to a minor outbreak is a dangerous situation if one is desired of keeping the virus eradicated - but of course if the current game plan has changed to reactive containment with business as usual ( The Sydney scheme) then is perfectly sensible and cost effective

I first observed Kudos being introduced when the US computer forum was meaningful and vibrant. They were lodged as a sign of respect and/or gratitude to the replier who resolved a vexing tech issue
