Vic economy to bounce back fastest: report
Victoria's economy is forecast to recover quicker than any other state or territory, despite suffering the worst downturn in Australia due to its second coronavirus wave.
The Deloitte Access Economics quarterly business outlook, released on Monday, forecasts the Victorian economy will grow 5.3 per cent in 2021, outpacing Queensland (4.6 per cent) and NSW (4.4 per cent).
"Victoria's recovery to date has been remarkable. Few at the height of the second wave could have envisaged Victoria would begin 2021 in such a favourable position," the report says.
The state's labour market also bounced back fasted than Deloitte first anticipated, with employment increasing 4.8 per cent in the two months to November.

Don't believe what you read debra275, there are ways of making something bad look good. Politicians have been masters at that for years. Look at John Howard 's "Work Choices" era and the misleading figures that showed how many employed people there were. What a joke! Another truth overboard type of thing. Heck, those figures weren't even worth half a sack of plaster of paris left over from the last batch of garden statues moulded at some nursery supplies joint.
Years down the track if good triumphs over corruption and incompetence, and true history is allowed to be recorded, Andrews will be seen for what he really was. In his November, 2020 interview on Sky News , Dr. Peter McCullough says "History will look back". How Andrews will be viewed IMO will not be favourable.
If you want the real low down. talk to the man in tye street. Look at small businesses 3 to 5 years from now and you'll see what the truth really is.

oh, I don't believe everything I read 4chan..... do you????
as I live here, (& my daughter currently works in retail) I know that businesses have been booming since we ended our big lockdown last year.... restaurants are booked out, cafe's are busy and everyone is out and about spending... then we have all the large infrastructure programmes in place.. the link to Greensborough was earmarked to be done when I was a child.. and finally someone is making it happen. it really needs to be done too..my parents live in the northern suburbs and i hate driving there with all the roads clogged up with large trucks.
some small businesses may fold and I think jobkeeper couldve been managed a bit better.. some of the large national companies didn't really need it as much as small business do
oh and btw Commsec released a similar report to Deloitte

Common sense dictates that those states that have not suffered the same amount of economic damage as Victoria, have not got as far to rebound. Basically the economy has never really stopped in South Australia as our virus outbreaks have been jumped on quickly and snuffed out before they have got out of hand. ( South Australia pioneered the short sharp lockdown technique Andrews has copied in this latest outbreak )
But politics aside, on the Victorian economic bounce back, I genuinely wish you well. No-one wants to see one state lagging behind the rest as a result of the virus and when it is going well Victoria has the potential to be an engine room for the Australian economy.
