DO NOT KNOCK STICKER - still getting door knockers

We have the official ACCC "Do Not Knock" sticker on our door which makes it a criminal offence for any person to knock on our door.

Yesterday we had a door knocker.

Today another door knocker.

Are these people not capable of reading English OR are they simply dumb and dumber?

This is what it looks like:

I truly do not get the strong feelings expressed on this subject.
A lot of posters here are always complaining that unemployed people will not put themselves out to take low paying jobs and when someone who is desperate does, they want to have them fined a huge amount, which they obviously cannot pay, lose the job that is giving them a hope of a better future and some semblance of dignity, all so that they do not have to endure a few minutes of inconvenience.
The only thing that makes sense is that taking another person out makes them feel superior and empowered.
How sad is that.

If people are too stupid to understand what 'do not knock' means then they should be out of a job. They should stay unemployed until such time they understand English. If they knock at a property with the ACCC sign it is a criminal offence full stop that is the law of the land here. There are plenty of houses without the do not knock sign so why don't they go knock there. I don't care what their reason for knocking is or whatever not interested.

I once had a sticker that said something like ....We gave at the office, our Kirby Vacuum Cleaner runs well, and we've already found God.

Seriously, they have prominent signs at all the entrances to my subdivision that states this is private property and soliciting is prohibited.  (They even list the statute number.)  Pretty easy to comprehend, right?  Wrong.  ๐Ÿ˜ž

I am sorry to rain on your parade UFO.....but pitter patter pitter patter....... Some facts....full stop

1 Tha ACCC do not knock sticker is not the only sticker that is enforcable...

Any Do not knock sticker becomes enforcable in most situations (dependant on placement)

http://donotknock.org.au/take-action/get-the-sticker-2/

2 The sticker  is not enforcable for charity workers looking for donation, politicians, community workers looking for moral

support or signatures for a petition or religious nuts....... In fact it only means that door to door salesman may have

breached your rights

http://donotknock.org.au/charities-religious-callers-market-researchers-and-the-do-not-knock-sticker...

ie the sign does not apply to visits from politicians or their employees, those seeking donations for charity and those

bringing information without a sales speel (ie religious nuts)

Visits from politicians, those seeking donations for a charity, or market researchers are not unsolicited consumer agreements for the purposes of that law because there is no selling involved.  This means the Do Not Knock sticker does not apply to those visits.

Although the sticker does not apply to fundraisers or researchers, the Fundraising Institute of Australia (FIA) has information for people wishing to make a complaint about charities and fundraisers who are FIA members.  If you have a problem with a market research company that door-knocks, the Research Industry Council of Australia recommends complaining directly to the research company in question or the industry Surveyline on 1300 364 830.

- See more at: http://donotknock.org.au/charities-religious-callers-market-researchers-and-the-do-not-knock-sticker...

3 dependant on the breach and successful prosecution either a civil fine or criminal charge and fine may be instituted

...... try and find one incident where the door knocker themselves have been fined??

Re: DO NOT KNOCK STICKER - still getting door knockers

I've become so jaded by doorknockers, particularly the religious zealots and energy salespeople, I now immediateley ask them what they want - then upon being told, state.."Sorry. Not interested. I'm only here to rob the place!' Then shut the door in their gobsmacked faces.

Their speed at exiting my property is priceless! And no, not one has ever called the police!

LOL !! I am going to try and remember that one. Not that we get many doorknockers, but if we do that should give them a laugh. At least it's a nice way to say NO.

You could have some fun with this op, if you are darring, get the eggs from your refridge, you know where I'm going with this. Or set up a water hose from the inside and soak them.

.

Fun Factor : Now you have a choice in chat, factor that
