As can be seen in the photo, Foo has had a blood test done today.

i noticed a swelling on his snout on friday morning so took him in to the vets friday afternoon.

the swelling is thought to be a tooth abcese.

whilst at the vets the vet noticed looking at Foos weight he had lost over 2 kilos since last december and about 5 kilos in a year!

hence the blood test, i will get the results tomorrow afternoon.

hes on anti biotics for his swelling and its allready gone down since friday.

the vet his holding off on the tooth problem until she gets the results from the blood test.

hes 11 years old, i'm not panicing but i am worried.

fingers crossed its not what it might be, cant even say it.

On the upside, that red bandage is very fashionable.

I could not agree more with Domino, Foo is definitely in the best hands where he is so loved and cared for.  Don't despair David, one step at a time ...  Heart

Thank you all for your kind words and thoughts.

he isnt showing any signs of anything wrong, hes just his normal self.

its not like hes off his food or lethargic (well more than usual)

if it wasnt for the swelling i would not have had reason to take him to the vets until time for his next vaxinations.

and then if not for me overhearing the girl say his weight was 29kilos when i knew he was 34kilos last year when he was vaxinated i wouldnt have mentioned his weight to the vet who then had a look and agreed he had lost weight.

and greyhounds dont carry excess weight, they dont get fat.

they allways look lean, even boney.

so 5kilos on say a labradore or a german shepard could easily be just diet and excercise.

ive allways said for a dog reknowned for speed he walks so slow! LOL

but thats what i promised him, no more need to run, if he wants to sniff every rock, bush, bit of grass, thats what he can do in retirement.

and he can sleep all day on a comfy bed.

and hasnt he taken full advantage LOL

so fingers crossed all is fine, this time tomorrow it'll just be getting a tooth taken out nothing more.

I'm hoping that it's nothing more than a tooth problem for Foo.

He has a great and caring owner. Even the vet sounds as if he (or she) knows what they are doing.

It might be a restless night for you though.

Please let us know about the blood test.

Fingers, toes and eyes all crossed!

So sorry to hear about Foo.   I hope the blood test give him the all clear.

Losing weight is not necessarily the Big C if that is what you are thinking.

Our little Westie showed no signs of losing weight, was not off his food....there were no outward signs of anything wrong until he came home from the groomer's with a sore foot.

As he was a terrible squirmer I assumed he had knocked it.  I watched it over the weekend and when there was no improvement I took him to the vet on Monday.  By Tuesday he was on chemotherapy.
