FOO News

001.JPG

As can be seen in the photo, Foo has had a blood test done today.

i noticed a swelling on his snout on friday morning so took him in to the vets friday afternoon.

the swelling is thought to be a tooth abcese.

whilst at the vets the vet noticed looking at Foos weight he had lost over 2 kilos since last december and about 5 kilos in a year!

hence the blood test, i will get the results tomorrow afternoon.

hes on anti biotics for his swelling and its allready gone down since friday.

the vet his holding off on the tooth problem until she gets the results from the blood test.

hes 11 years old, i'm not panicing but i am worried.

fingers crossed its not what it might be, cant even say it.

Re: FOO News

David, I know he's a Greyhound 'n' all, but he looks like there should be more meat on those ribs.

Hope he likes his new tucker and puts that weight on.

Bet he's a bit happier now.

he has lost weight as ive said, hes had the blood test thats shown no abnormalties. ive changed his diet and more than doubled the amount he was getting. larger serves 3 times a day instead of 2 times.

hopefully he will start putting on weight, i'll take him back to the vets in a couple of weeks for a weight check.

not sure what else i can do until i find out if he still is losing weight or not putting it on.

he seems normal, not throwing up or runny bottom.

i'll keep everyone in the loop as i know they want to know whats happening.

Re: FOO News

oh, also the vet said at his age there was no reason to keep him on the 'heartgard plus' heartworm chews, so i'm switching him to a 3 monthly 'all wormer'.

vet said heartworm here is a very low risk and would take years and years to become a problem if Foo got it today and well old age will take him long before that happens.

because ive been buying the heartgard plus on ebay the vet had no idea i was giving it to him, even thought that brand was no longer produced. i put him on them from day 1 as the GAP people advised it. from memory i got the first couple of boxes, 6 chews = 6 months, cost about $60 a box.

much cheaper on ebay.

He looks like he's all rugged up to go to the footy. And a Sydney Roosters fan too. Smiley LOL

Re: FOO News

So glad he is doing well.

It's awful when our pets get sick. Pity they don't have the same life span as humans.
