FOO News

001.JPG

As can be seen in the photo, Foo has had a blood test done today.

i noticed a swelling on his snout on friday morning so took him in to the vets friday afternoon.

the swelling is thought to be a tooth abcese.

whilst at the vets the vet noticed looking at Foos weight he had lost over 2 kilos since last december and about 5 kilos in a year!

hence the blood test, i will get the results tomorrow afternoon.

hes on anti biotics for his swelling and its allready gone down since friday.

the vet his holding off on the tooth problem until she gets the results from the blood test.

hes 11 years old, i'm not panicing but i am worried.

fingers crossed its not what it might be, cant even say it.

YAY.  Good one David.

That extra weight will make him feel better I'm sure.

What is his 'ideal' weight?   Did the vet say?

Re: FOO News

I am so pleased that Foo is putting on weight.....it shows what a difference a premium food can make in only a short time.

Did the vet recommend any treatment for his arthritis?

Re: FOO News

in all the time hes been with me his weight has been stable on 34kilos until this weight loss.

he was 32kilos when i got him and that was just a short time after his final race.

i'll take him back for another jump on the scales in say 2 months. so although the vet didnt say a weight i'm thinking between 34 and 36. should be good.

he was so happy in the vets, going around saying hello to everyone.

vet said if he starts showing signs of pain from arthritis he could go on injections, my previous dog was on them for years so i know the difference they make.

ellie, my last dog, had both her back knees reconstructed and in later years had difficulty getting up and down, went on the injections and was a lot better.

as long as i keep him warm at night, hopefully it'll be some time if ever he requires injections.

he loves meeting people

the exact opposite to me.

ellie, now she didnt like the vets, had to lift her out of the car, coax her inside the vets, shed hide under my legs until we got called, then it was push and pull into the room. not even yummy food treats made a difference. lol

My little Westie loved going to the vet even when it was for his chemotherapy treatments.  For 11 months he was going every 2-3 weeks.

He treated it as a social occasion to visit his friends the vets and the nurses.   He knew his way round the place too....when we arrived to collect him at night the vet just opened the cage and pointed him to the waiting room...he came at a gallop.
