FOO News

001.JPG

As can be seen in the photo, Foo has had a blood test done today.

i noticed a swelling on his snout on friday morning so took him in to the vets friday afternoon.

the swelling is thought to be a tooth abcese.

whilst at the vets the vet noticed looking at Foos weight he had lost over 2 kilos since last december and about 5 kilos in a year!

hence the blood test, i will get the results tomorrow afternoon.

hes on anti biotics for his swelling and its allready gone down since friday.

the vet his holding off on the tooth problem until she gets the results from the blood test.

hes 11 years old, i'm not panicing but i am worried.

fingers crossed its not what it might be, cant even say it.

Re: FOO News

David - there is of course a great hole - in your heart.

I experienced this with a much - too much loved pet - 15 years.

I swore I would never go through that again - right - it took me a year to realise - missing her was not exactly the problem - it was filling the huge gap she left.

She will never be replaced - but the new addition - monster that she is - Google lied - is a total heart warmer.

It is not being unkind to the one now gone - but a rescue of one who now needs you.

Fill your life - rescue your perfect pet.

NB : I'm sure Rosie would approve.

Edited to say : So would Foo.

Re: FOO News

pressed wrong button, wheres my head at?

anyway.

i dont think you can love a furry too much.

i hope no one thinks i have gone to the greyhound adoption service too quickly.

i agree, i have a huge place in my heart to fill, not replace.

adopting a greyhound isnt like going to a pound an picking out something i like.

the process takes time, until they contact me i have no idea, could be a week (very unlikely) could be several months.

i waited nearly 3 months for FOO to be available, i think its getting a dog that passes the cat test that takes time.

most fail.

so although ive put in an aplication it could be a long wait.

on the plus side beyond being ok with a cat i have no big demands so that may help.

its wait and see now, fingers crossed

and i must get passed my fear of travelling to adelaide.

Re: FOO News

David, I'm sure Foo wouldn't want you to be lonely any longer than necessary.

Can maybe your brother or SIL help with going to Adelaide?

Re: FOO News

Your fear of travelling to Adelaide - get over it - you will have a furry, snuggling friend with you - on the way home.

I'm  in NSW - when deciding on a Scots Terrier - I had to go to Ballarat - Vic.

The drive down wasn't so bad - done over two days.

The trip home - another story - there she was - so tiny - in a box in the floor cavity.

Leaving Vic at 2pm - stopping for puppy needs - I finally pulled up in our drive - at 3am next morning.

The lovely thing was DD in PJ's - just couldn't wait to hold the furry little ball - waiting.

As Rosie is - as Foo was - they are a pleasure in our lives.

Take the drive David - you will never regret it.

This was her :

Now.

You can do it.

they will, but its my austism side, going to new places meeting new people.

meeting a new greyhound is easy for me, meeting the people is the problem.

the trip requires stopping to go to the toilet in strange places too.

i used to be able to go from home to adelaide and back non stop, but cant these days.

i think its been a few years since i last went down to adelaide.
