Four'n Twenty Pies are now halal

I went to 7-Eleven tonight to get a bite to eat, grabbed a Four'n Twenty pie and gosh it was halal.

Traitors!  How can they do this?

I put it back in the warmer then drove to a local Italian restaurant and we had pasta carbonara.

Interesting, not really - not even accurate, the only place that I can find this old story is bolt bog and an american anti Islam site - anyway it has now been proven to be not correct so maybe time to stop spreading it.

News Online: The ABC has and continues to report on a situation in Western Australia which has involved charges being laid following an alleged drugs seizure. The ABC wishes to clarify that  Western Australia Islamic Council President Dr Rateb Jneid has not been charged with drug offences of any kind.

A prominent Muslim leader has been fined for a minor firearm offence after getting caught up in a drug raid that had nothing to do with him.

Islamic Council of Western Australia president Rateb Jneid was fined $300 and granted a spent conviction in Perth Magistrates Court on Wednesday for failing to bolt in a firearm cabinet.

Police charged Dr Jneid after a series of drug raids in Perth's southern suburbs in April.

Dr Jneid was not involved in any of the drug-related offences.

I wonder what decision the halal label objectors would make if they owned a food production company producing a food product for the domestic market. If their no. of sales has been declining and they have a viable option of increasing their production/sales by exporting their product (with halal label required)) to other countries. Would they say No, I am not putting that label on my products, I don't want to export my product? In effect, continuing with declining sales and struggling to stay in business?

It surprises me that people are so concerned about food that is labelled.

Carbon Monoxide is a legal food additive in Australia and is used to maintain the red colour of meat on many of our supermarket shelves. Meat exposed to air and temperature variances will start to discolour in a few hours, yet the prepackaged meats usually look nice and red, even those that are approaching their best before date and have been sitting in their pre packers for several days and subjected to the temperature variances of the open cool cabinets

Then there is also the issue of the hormone growth promotants (HGP's) used in our beef cattle to stimulate weight gain and reduce the costs of producing meat. It's legal, and they are being used. Coles claim that all of their fresh beef is hormone free. Woolworths refused to comment.

They don't put any of that on food labels, not even those that have those nutritional panels.

I would have difficulty doing fairly ordinary cooking without a lot of these products.

I prefer not to buy fruit or vegetables from China - what do they fertilise them with?  what chemicals do they use? Unfortunately food labelling doesn't have to state what country the item comes from (especially the countries we have a free trade agreement with).

Putting ingredient/contents from local and/or imported goods on labels doesn't help any.

There was a butcher in the local paper recently fined for putting too much of that stuff to make meat look red in their meat.

Ufo's gunna starve.   How does he know what any restaurant uses

when cooking his meal?  Italians use all sorts, not just fresh.
