More restrictions expected tonight

Another National Cabinet Meeting scheduled for tonight.

It is expected we will move from Phase1 to Phase 2 or more of restrictions.

Good.  Whatever it takes.

Good news for renters in trouble

They have to PROVE they are in financial trouble, which is good, will stop the "scammers"

Owners will still have prob though, banks are only deferring their mortgage payments for up to six months

Yes, but the gov't is giving landlords a tax break for allowing renters some wiggle room.

Dont think one will balance out the other at all

Perhaps check out what the repayments are on a mortgage these days, you may get a shock

Not now for a lot of them. Spoke to a sole trader, country hairdresser yesterday. She has closed her shop due to low immune issues ( past cancer treatment ) so no income at all. Her story will be repeated all around the country. Small business, closed signs going up everywhere where I live. Everyone of these signs is family who just lost their livelihood.

The current situation is heartbreaking. Peoples livelihoods and years of work dissapearing before their eyes. My teenage daughter has a friend who has just left school, entered the workforce and lives with her parents. On monday all three of the family members lost their jobs.

Shocked at how little they are. Housing interest now down to less than 2.5% for 2 year fixed term and commercial fixed term loans starting at at 2.21% through the Commonwealth and just got quoted 2.59% for quarter of a mill $ ( with loading above base rate , so the "real " figure ) through the ANZ today for a fixed term commercial loan.

If some-one cant service a motgage with those sorts of interest rates it would not be prudent to be borrowing the money in the first place.
