Re: My Health Record ---- Opt In or Out

Sure, until a scammer comes along with their hacking and has thier job made easier for them with people confirming/re-entering their details en-masse

No thanks

No, the state-based local road authority - VicRoads, RTA, etc - already has your driver's license number. The Federal Government doesn't - until you hand it over to them.

Im finding that the whole opt-out bit is something of a hoot...

Here's how it's working from my perspective:

Fred is horrifed at the idea that Big Brother will be keeping details on him in a centralized location. He's not sure whether the Government is the problem, or maybe it's the thousands of hackers who are sitting online searching his name every few minutes and patiently waiting for his details to pop up, but he knows it's not a good thing. He wants out, and breaks the world land-speed record getting to a computer so's he can start the "no! NO! NO!!" process.

The opt-out process requires that Fred supplies two items of ID - his Medicare number (which they already have), and his driver's license number. Which, of course, he supplies without a second thought.

Let's think about that for a sec, huh? Fred doesn't want Big Bro to have a whole bunch of info on him. In order to avoid that, Fred has... just given them a piece of info that they didn't have. They already had his Medicare card number, now they have his driver's license number linked to his Medicare number.

Moving forward: Fred completes the opt-out process, and is told he's been successful. For his own records, he can either print the confirmation page, or have a copy e-mailed to him. Naturally, he chooses e-mail, because printed pages can be easily lost.

So now, Big Bro has an e-mail address linked to all Fred's other details.

The process started off with Big Bro having Fred's Medicare card number. Now they also have his driver's license details and an e-mail address linked to that Medicare number.

Whoever it is who's busily compiling and cross-referencing everyone's info is probably wetting themselves with laughter at how easy it is...

And that's why we have been given a choice to stay or go    ......  I chose to go, other people will choose to stay, we all have our own personal reason/s for staying or opting out

Re: My Health Record ---- Opt In or Out

the whole who has what access to what info sometimes has me scratching my head.

take for instance the guy in perth just a week ago who killed his kids before topping himself at his house.

it took hours to discover his body, now surley the polices number 1 suspect must have been the ex partner right? why did it take hours to go to his house?

they must of had access to his address within a very short time.

So neither of you have a mygov account.
Neither of you have lodged a tax return.
Neither of you have claimed a Medicare rebate.
Do what you want.
Your fears are your fears.
My fears are my fears.
I fear third party access to my health information from the third parties that the government are ALREADY giving that information to.
I don't fear what hasn't happened yet.
The man that made all government departments digital said he would opt out.
He is an expert on digital services and the government. I think he knows what he is talking about more than two chicken littles running around saying that the sky is falling

By the way the Federal government already has your driver's licence.
They are actively perusing facial recognition that was initially using passport photos but because way less people have passports and way more have driver's licences they now have your driver's licence and it's photo.
Sorry to burst your little unknowing bubble

Re: My Health Record ---- Opt In or Out

So if you don't have a drivers licence you cannot opt out of the system?

Great.....that means that old people who a less likely to still be driving have to remain in a system even if they are unhappy about it.
