Re: Outrage at Halal Chicken Pizzas.

OMG !!! Would you believe that I do that too?

My Mum used to buy chicken fat from the butcher and then melt it down and use that for cooking and spreads.

Even kept in the fridge it never goes hard like butter does.

I have not eaten butter so I cant compare the taste but the chicken fat fat on toast is delicious ๐Ÿ™‚

Re: Outrage at Halal Chicken Pizzas.

๐Ÿ™‚ I just tried it one day, instead of olive oil, and thought ! That's good.

When I have the warm chicken fat, I drizzle a little onto toast myself. Yum.

Only free range chickens ๐Ÿ™‚

Re: Outrage at Halal Chicken Pizzas.

my mother used to make it from pork poddy (possibly from chicken too)

and made her own lard from it too, was great on toast! sprinkle of paprika, salt

she stopped after going on a health kick a good 20 years ago, so that was the last time i had any

i don't miss it really, reckon it's a bit too fatty for my liking these days

Re: Outrage at Halal Chicken Pizzas.

My mum used to put it in a press and squeeze out any remaining fat.

Studies have shown that almonds can reduce cholesterol, as part of a healthy diet, but not for everyone.

Dark chocolate can also reduce cholesterol, but one needs to be aware of the sugar content and that chocolate is high in calories. So dark chocolate with a high cocoa and lower sugar content.

With all of these things, it is best to know what your levels are, and talk to a GP about any diet changes, that would take into account other factors you have.

Crikey, I doubt Poddster is the King of Siam.

Anyway, I have a tendency to wear hats. Even though my hair is indeed lovely and clean ๐Ÿ˜›

Hat or no hat, my preference is still a  plate and glass for a sampling ๐Ÿ™‚
