Re: PENSION RATE CUT

I am on Widows Allowance and am 64 ...I receive $200 per fortnight less than a single Aged Pensioner but I am very grateful for what I do receive and I also do craft work to sell to make a bit extra. I also babysit my grandson 4 days a week as well as do volunteer work.

Any rise should be appreciated instead of whinged about.

Yes, but only if it's awarded by a married white male.

Oh please.  Where is the fun in that?

How is it possible to blame that upstart redhead woman, who never even had kids, who is treading on the men's turf where she don't belong, who is just so wrong because it's just so wrong,  who would euthanase everyone at 60 to avoid paying pensions, who would eat the noisy kids next door and feed their bones to boat people, who will make kids walk 20 miles to school in the rain with no shoes on.

Re: PENSION RATE CUT

You know I haven't meet many people who don't appreciate what they receive.  I just think people are desperate, they are trying to make ends meet.  What should they do if they can't work, beg on the street?  Or is the mentality in this nation that the poorer we keep them the cheaper it is??

Compared to other nations there is plenty to go around, what we often lack is compassion and support for our most vulnerable.

Re: PENSION RATE CUT

I wasn't whingeing.   My next door neighbour had told me that OH and I would be getting $54 p fortnight from last Wed. 20/3/13.   So I was a little disappointed that it was only $11.50 each.  I was looking forward with gratitude (grovel grovel) to receiving it. and was devastated to find it wasn't true.  The neighbour had heard it on the radio.  Just goes to prove you can't trust the media?

Typing with tongue in cheek can be quite difficult.

Incidentally my OH and I ran a Co. for 40 years and paid HEAPS of tax and employed heaps of people.   So don't tell me we haven't contributed and/ or should be grateful for " what we get"

sheesh!!X-(

Re: PENSION RATE CUT

I was talking about private employment.  It is easy to get at 74.

Name names please ( of people over 74 you know who work part time to supplement their income/benefit)

Name the specific employers/ jobs that take on a great number of aged pensioners.

I don't believe that statement you made... it is easy to get private employment at 74.

You'll never win this argument with me A3.  I have been sctratching around for extra dollars since my children and I slept on the floor for a long time in an unfurnished flat a long time ago.  I know how to do it.  And if I can do it, other reasonably healthy people can too, not counting the ones in kengilard's circumstances and similar.

Re: PENSION RATE CUT

I don't want to win any argument. I don't believe there are plenty of jobs out there for 70+ year olds and no one has shown me where these jobs are.
