Just had a phone call purporting to be Telstra technical services saying I had a problem with my internet connection.
'Foreign' voice of course. I wasn't on the laptop at the time, so I told him I would connect and he could ring me back. He did ring back and when I told him there was nothing wrong with the connection he hung up. Apparently this is a scam similar to the microsoft one that has been around for ages.

Just this week I've had phone calls up to three times a day almost every day....which because of my arthritis I was not able to get to the phone in time to pick up. Curious about who was calling I did a star-10-hash, made a note of the number and then looked it up on a reverse number site.
It wasn't Telstra (or my bank who thinks I really need to apply for a credit card) but my internet provider.....and from the comments on the phone site they are calling to get people to switch electricity providers to them. Considering they have put up the cost of my internet access, frankly they've got Buckley's.

recently got a call from our gas supplier,- customer retention division, asking why we were changing companies
we weren't
after chasing it up properly and us calling them back on the number given in the white pages --turns out someone somewhere had requested our change and if we hadnt got that phone call, we would have found ourselves changed without consent
they INSIST that hubby or I must have signed a contract somewhere, but we know we didnt
bit cranky though, cause our discount has gone done cause we "try to change" ---I know that doesnt make sense, but it is what it is
