Re: The Oscars Slap

Clearly not a put-on and behaviour not becoming of a normal person.

Will Smith has resigned from The Academy.

He appears to have seen how serious his actions were, not just for the victim but for all the role models watching.

Re: The Oscars Slap

It will be interesting.

Jada remains a member of the Academy.

He may become her handbag.

Re: The Oscars Slap

The Academy plans to forge ahead and conduct a formal investigation and disciplinary process on April 18, at which time the organization could impose further sanctions or punishment in accordance with its bylaws. In the meantime, here’s what Smith’s resignation means for the actor’s Oscars future:

  • Yes, he still gets to keep his Best Actor Oscar for “King Richard”
  • Yes, he can still get invited to future Academy Awards ceremonies
  • Yes, he can still be nominated for future consideration
  • No, he is no longer a voting member of the Academy

Re: The Oscars Slap

Apparently that just means he can’t vote anymore, but he can still be nominated and receive awards 🤷‍♀️

So…. Pointless really.  Just for show! 😉

Re: The Oscars Slap

Hmmm….. I have to say that I disagree with the take in this video.

So, what I hear is….. that Jada is a strong willed independent woman, which in turn is an attack on Will’s masculinity, therefore he ‘acted out’ what he thought was the right thing to do once he realised his wife was ‘not happy’ with Chris Rocks ‘joke’?
And that somehow equates to him being ‘under the thumb’ or ‘controlled’ so to speak? 🤔

What was it called when women around the world, and still are, oppressed by male dominance at home and in the workplace? But heaven forbid that a woman should rise above that, and become strong within herself and in her life!

I don’t agree with extra marital affairs, but it doesn’t matter what I think….. it’s not my marriage.  They obviously sorted things out, so is it fair to use that as an excuse?  It probably still weighs heavy in Wills mind, but he had options.

With regards of the Tupac letter, this is actually the first time I’ve even heard of it….. so…. No comment.
