I parked in a local side st last night while i took my dog for walk and when i came
Back there was a parking ticket naming a street 3km away in a different suburb with Permit Zone on it. Not only wrong st but the st i parked in has no restrictions. What the ...... but how can i prove they are wrong?..

There you go - why would you park 3 klms away.
Do a statement of fact - take it in - don't wait the ridiculous - 90 days.
A statement of fact is a description of your activity - with the proof of pics, the street you parked, the reason, etc - whatever.
Need help - PM me.

Don't give up. I was once sent a fine for not voting. I was hopping mad as I had voted and sent them a terse note to tell them exactly where & when i had voted. never heard back from them, but maybe they double checked & found my name crossed off.
I have also been in the position you are, with a fine I didn't think i deserved. I went to the police station (wrong move but I was younger then) & the officer was lovely, said they had had a lot of trouble with the council over this (it was basically that there were no signs in the actual streets to say don't park-the signs were about 2-3km away on the perimeter of the area only).
He suggested I ring the papers about it so i did. It ended up on TV news & on radio. If I were you, I'd do the same if the council does not see sense. You have a better story-marked with a street that you weren't even in. news hounds would love it.
At the very least, it would put the spotlight on the person who fined you & if they had a couple of similar complaints he/she would have a bit of explaining to do.

Springy, getting a Please Explain for not voting is not as dramatic as you seem to think.
In NSW the form has 3 options.....you can give up and pay the fine, or you can give them the details of where and approximately what time you did vote or third option is if you did not vote but have a reason.
I took the last option just last week as I did not vote in the local council elections. For many years I have done postal voting and this year my forms did not arrive until the Monday after the elections. On the day my knees were so bad that there was no way I could even walk to the front gate, let alone into the voting place.
If they accept my reason all well and good....if not then I will have to fork over $55.
The same reason got me out of Jury Duty a few months ago and without a doctors certificate.
I have usually found that when it comes to a "he said, I said" situation if you present a solid well reasoned argument with as much proof as possible....and without being too antagonistic....you will often win your case.

Lyndal, in Victoria, you don't get an option.
You just get a fine. That's it.

Ouch....now I understand Springy's anger.
Talk about guilty without trial. I'm glad I live in NSW.
