Hi
As Australians are likely aware, many forms of GOV ID has or is moving to online. As eBay won’t accept the online government issued ID, are they breaking an Australian consumer law? I’ve looked through what policies I’ve been able to find and am unable to see where it says it must be a physical ID. I used to sell for several years some time ago, and need to verify my ID again, but I do not have a physical license, only online government ID.

Have you tried putting the Gov ID number into the slot for Driver's Licence?
Sometimes that works, I've heard.

I think it might depend on the type of digital ID you are referring to.
eBay require a driver's licence or proof of age card issued by your state's transport authority ( not the post office keypass) and for either of those shouldn't matter if physical or digital as the information contained should be the same, or a passport (or maybe immigration card??).
eBay won't accept myGov ID and probably not the new digital ID the government is in the process of introducing (although may in the future as seems to be specifically designed for online stuff!)

you have answered your own question, if you cant find it anywhere it must not be true.

Thank you for the information. They actually will not accept the online digital version of a valid license, which is how the whole situation got brought up. As everything is changing to online, this is concerning. As you’re aware our online digital license is a legal document. I spoke with eBay this morning but they have made it very clear they will not accept it. Thank you for your response.

I just wanted to double check as both of the people I spoke with from eBay support this morning says it must be a physical card, they will not accept any type of government ID online . Thank you for your reply.
