Hi,
We have just read the changes that are coming in September 2012 regarding Basic Store Subscriptions (rising from $24.95 to $49.95)
Our sales on ebay have reduced so much over the last year or so that doubling our store subscription really isn't an option (most of our sales come though our website). My question is, if we close our store and take advantage of the 30 free listings per month, will we have to relist the stock we have in there now? Or will it appear in our Unsold folder and we can just relist it from there? Also, is there anything we'll miss out on by not having a store other than Good Till Cancelled listings?
Any help would be appreciated.

And a fair bit about QS
Only four things to know.
Too many sellers
Too much cheap tat
Too many fakes
Too few buyers.
I will repeat, if a store cannot sustain a fee rise of $5.60 a week then it is not a viable business anyway and the seller would be better served using the free listings.

Ebay recently made me a powerseller against my wishes, becuase I turned over a whopping 3K last year.... so I lost my ability to list 30 items free per month.
I've tried asking them a dozen times via email to revoke my PS status, but they refuse or claim they don't understand why I would want to do that and give me some irrelevant copy-pasta nonsense. The staff appear to have very poor English skills these days, unlike a few years ago.
So I see you were able to get your PS revoked?? Who do I speak to about that? Perhaps phoning them works better than email....

the poor english skills is because eBay shifted their help lines from USA/Canada to Philippines a cpl of years ago.
up until about 12 or 18months ago you used to be able to opt out as a PSeller, but now it is automatic and stays, for as long as you sell $3k p.a. they deem you to be a regular seller, NOT a casual seller or new to selling.... the target market for their free listings.
once you pass that figure and 100 items a year you pay fees just like the majority of ebay users.

A few years ago, a powerseller had to maintain sales of 24K a year -- now its a mere fraction of that.
Looks like I'll have to start up a new ID in order to sell 30 items per month for zero listing fee then. I've never had another eBay ID in 13.5 years of trading on here, can I use the same credit card + PayPal account as my main ID?

You need to phone to get them to remove your powerseller status.
They took mine away for some reason last year, I hadn't listed for a month or so, true, but shouldn't have dropped that much.
As it turned out once I dropped the store I got my 30 free listings straight away and with the pro rata refund on the store I am $1.68 in credit, yay me!

Ha! I'm glad somebody's still making money on here ... careful they don't make you a Powerseller again for that!
I've closed my store now, next I'll beg them to have my PS status revoked.

How many sellers that are closing their stores...... are also buyers
Way back when ebay use to call them MEMBERS
So, ..... how many members will not have the extra cash to whack their buyers hat on????
taking into consideration.,of course, that those members are either incinerating or at least changing the "brand badge" of their sellers hat

Just received my Congratualtions, from Ebay for being a seller for 10 years, just in time for me to close my store, because Ebay have become greedy, Sad:-(

The last couple of days have just confirmed to me how delighted I am with this fee increase finally giving me the kick up the backside to stop selling on ebay.
I have been having a final push to just clear out as much remaining stock as I can before I close my store on 14 September and boy, I have struck some rude, ignorant people over the last couple of days. It is lovely to be able grit my teeth and keep thinking to myself "only two more weeks". (where's the blowing raspberries emoticon? :^O)
Having run my own very successful website for over five years (successful to the point that I was able to give up selling on ebay for three of those years), I can confirm that ebay buyers really are a different breed. I almost never ever encountered a rude or difficult customer via my website, ebay seems to breed them enmass here.

It seems that eBay is only interested in retaining the high-volume sellers who deal in the same mass-produced made-in-China products that -- well, that everyone else is already selling anyway.
There's less of a place here now for the seller of interesting, rare and unique collectables and quirky items.
SO.... see ya!
