Blocking a buyer...what can't they do?

For the first time, I had to block a buyer last night. They purchased some shoes from me, claimed they were not as described or photographed (I did not edit or obscure any part of my 12 photographs), so wanted a refund.

I respectfully declined and they lodged an ebay dispute. Fine. I wrote a further message, and they grew very angry, irrational and then at times incoherent, saying they would be laughed out of their office, that only a clown would wear them, etc. I said that I would no longer be engaging directly with them due to their manner.

They then threatened that "defamation" would be "coming your way" and accused me of calling them a liar (I had not), which I could only assume implied they were threatening negative feedback, which is extortion and not allowed. I wrote this to ebay.

Then they REALLY blew up, sent three messages (none of which I replied to), called me dim, dopey, stupid, thick in the head, said I could not understand English, said they never threatened me with negative feedback, but then said they WOULD be leaving negative feedback as my item was "**bleep**".

Then they said to go away. Then they said (I still had not sent any messages so they were basically talking to themselves by now) "sod off. Permanently."

In the meantime, I saw they had left negative feedback so I immediately went onto the live ebay chat, explained the situation, they read all the messages, including the latest one telling me to "F*** off" (I STILL hadn't said anything to her! lol) and said they would be closing the dispute in my favour and removing the negative feedback. Thank you!

This buyer is going to be FURIOUS, but they screwed themselves with their unacceptable behaviour. My messages were all professional.

Anyway, I blocked them, but does this mean they just can't buy from me again? Can they still message me? I hope not.

Am I able to request ebay remove the positive feedback I left for them before all this happened?

Blocking a buyer...what can't they do?

Ebay has thrown you a curve ball, Lyndal.

OP has never sold those shoes.

Check her sold listings.

So I have now discovered.

I am wondering if it has anything to do with ebay's new trick of replacing the original listing as soon as it is sold with something similar that may be of interest.

I have never found the items to be even remotely similar and this could well be the same thing.....the only thing similar is that they are both shoes.

*sigh*   Just another way to make it harder for the responders to help on the boards when you cannot rely on seeing the original listings.

I thought that may have been what happened to the item you looked at.

We really have to pay attention these days to sold listings.

I agree, sometimes it's not even close to being 'similar'

Omg, I came back just to check in case anyone had said anything, and this thread has exploded into a mass of confused shoes! lol

Ok, so the shoes I sold were indeed the first picture posted in this thread by Imastawka, the nude pumps / heels. Very neutral, excellent condition, blah blah.

The pink shoes with the silver heel were a different sale, and the buyer left very positive feedback.

Where are these Minnie Mouse shoes I see referred to?! lol

Oh, and the photos here of those blue strappy heels? No idea. Not mine.

Just reading more...

The shoes I sold were Wittner brand and indeed not clown shoes or unwearable. Laughed out of the office? What!?

The pink shoes are Alannah Hill brand and very lovely.

The blue shoes I've never seen before and actually do like them, but no, they are not mine.

I'm baffled as to why ebay would not just show what was actually sold? What if people thought I had sold hideous items that weren't even mine?? Or conversely, if ebay implied that I'd sold amazing items and I actually had not??

Oh, and I can't wear heels either. lol.

Thanks for coming back and clearing that up for us.

Speaking of shoes.......I saw a pair very similar to these in the op shop on Tuesday.

Asking price $12.   Hardly worn.    I should have bought them cos they'd sell quick-smart
