Cancelled Sale

I sold a pick up item to a buyer. I contacted the buyer within minutes of the listing ending asking to negotiate a pick up time and date. The buyer did not make contact for 3 days over the weekend. The buyer lives several hours from me, apparently they were away for the weekend, in the same place as I live and therefore where the item is. They paid by paypal and then said they would be back in town the following weekend. I then emailed several times asking for a pickup time and day. Nothing. Then I get an email the following Monday saying they had been in town but as I hadn't given them my address they had been unable to pick up the item. The buyer gave their phone number. I called and found out the person I had sold the item to, was not the ebay account holder but the boyfriend. I asked the buyer when they would pick up the item and was told not to the following weekend. At this stage it's been about 1 and half since the listing finished. The buyer told me to leave the items out and they would just turn up when they felt like to pick up the items. The buyer paid by paypal for a pick up (not my choice ebay doesn't give you one) so i need some kind of evidence the buyer picked up and I have no idea if someone will steal the item etc, I also live in a gated community that doesn't let people into the estate without the owners being home. I asked to cancel the sale, the buyer says if i cancel they will leave negative feedback. I ask them if they can pick up the item sooner and give me an actual time, he says absolutely not. He then starts screaming at me and calling me a stupid idiot. He then puts his partner on the phone and says to her "talk some sense into that stupid **bleep**ing idiot". She gets on the phone and starts aggressively asking me for my home address so they can pick up the item when they are ready. I say no, I need to organise a time and date first (this is the internet and i have just been sworn at ). She starts yelling at me that they can't pick up the item without an address, I ask for a time and date, she says no and I say no. She hangs up on me. I then send an email asking to cancel the sale as i'm now really not comfortable going ahead with the sale and having them at my home, i say i will refund the money via Paypal. The buyer emails back and agrees to cancel the sale but starts an item not received dispute via paypal. The buyer agrees the to cancel sale via the dispute console and i refund the money via paypal. The buyer then leaves me negative feedback saying i was difficult. How can i get this feedback removed? how is it fair that a cancelled sale is allowed to leave feedback? is there a policy about cancelled sales not being allowed to leave feedback?

Re: Cancelled Sale

Sorry I missed the paid and refunded bit, kind of glazed over a bit a third of the way through lol.

I sincerely hope ebay remve te neg, if they don't there are further steps you can take.

You can at least have the satisfaction of knowing that you have at least allowed a lot of other sellers to add this numpty to their BBLs!

Re: Cancelled Sale

Sorry, but I am going to have to agree with the buyer on this one. How is the buyer going to give a time to pick-up if they dont WHERE FROM. What if they said OK i'll be there in 5 minutes only to find out its 40-50 minutes away? OP feedback seems to indicate this has happened more than once.

Re: Cancelled Sale

Are you also on the buyer's side re using another ID to bid on? In direct contradiction to eBay's rules?

Waiting....

Re: Cancelled Sale

Of course not. Both buyes and seller should abide by ebay policy. But that is still only hear say at the moment. As for the OP statement about him leaving other comments for other sellers, I see no other bad comments left for other sellers. Just saying, had a pick-up address been given all this may have been avoided in the first place.

Re: Cancelled Sale

I have people pick up goods all the time.

I never reveal full address details until time and day is agreed. I do however provide suburb & general vicinity info so buyer has realistic idea of location within 1km radius.

Re: Cancelled Sale

just to be clear, the pick up suburb was in the listing.  The buyer knew what suburb, but they wanted the full address.  To pick up over a 3 day period, at their convience.  But had paid with paypal so I needed proof they had picked up.

Thanks thecatspis, that's how i feel.  I used to read these forums years ago and I followed most of the people here and that was one advice most of the main forum members used to give, did you used to have a different user name?

The buyer has now left negative feedback using the other account.  I pulled the buyer details via eBay and this guy has the same mobile number listed on this account as the one he gave me.  I forwarded it onto eBay again.  I have no idea what more this guy needs to do before eBay will put a stop to it.  The buyers mother was a lovely old lady too, who said her son wouldn't hurt a fly, so I have no idea who this guy is and why he's going to over the top for an eBay sale?

Re: Cancelled Sale

Lol I have many identities - but have not used another user name on discussion board to provide advice save once or twice when I had an account problem and required advice.

I hope ebay responds appropriately and quickly, when there are clear policy breaches such as this they do themselves and other sellers no favours by being slow to act.

Re: Cancelled Sale

I had similar situation with a buyer that takes over two weeks to pick up an item...then makes me leave my stuff outside all day then never shows up and when I refund them I get neg feed back....lol what a joke.... rang ebay and they rekon they cant remove it as it was the buyers experience with the sale....lol what a joke... not only was he refunded but then gets to leave neg feedback for something that actually never took place in the end...lol gotta love the system and how it works...grossly unfair

Re: Cancelled Sale

Personally I think it's all just crazy and no actual real world logic gets applied here.  Makes you wonder why you would sell.

If you're talking around 5 to 7 years ago, the one and only sneaker enthusiast I can remember from ebay was Michelle, who uses the ID i-mowi and has been a member for more than 12 years now and is still quite active on ebay, although I've neither spoken to nor seen her on the boards for at least 2 or 3 years, if not even longer.
