Changes to eBay Feedback

Hi everyone,

I just received confirmation that eBay will not remove feedback left more than 60 days ago - is this correct?? I have not seen anything about the sort. For those who may wonder why there would even be a reason for this, I messaged a buyer more than 5 months ago asking if feedback left was a mistake, and they advised me that it was. eBay were unable to remove it even though in the message the buyer said it was an accident and they didn't mean to leave it. How is this fair?

How about a package gets lost and reappears several 2 months later and an honest buyer says it just arrived and would be happy to revise feedback

This is the message (and confirmed on phone) I received from eBay:

"Hi XXX

As promised here is the follow up email regarding the feedback that was left by XXX. Unfortunately, we cannot take action on this feedback because its past 60 days.

The transaction period is considered to be 60 days from the end of the listing or 30 days from the date the Feedback was left, whichever is longer. If this happens again, I suggest you respond to the cause of the negative feedback. The feedback that was left by XXX  has to be reinstated as well because it doesn't fall within our feedback removal policy (WTF????)

I hope this helps.

Warm Regards,

I was informed just now this is a new change effective from August. The rep removed the reinstated neut and also the other one today but said going forward this is new policy - hence new feedback removal policy.

yeah well quote them this bit... and ask them how defamation works into their "timeframe"

.....a defamation feedback removal could be instituted years after the statement was made......

you send them the stat dec and they remove...pronto

..... If they don't remove after you affirm with a stat dec that you consider the statement defamatory they leave themselves  liable to

defend the statement's veracity in court

We have developed the following procedure for handling such claims.

First, you should consult a lawyer to confirm that the content you have identified is in fact defamatory.

According to New South Wales law, defamation is broadly defined as a publication communicated to someone, other than the

subject, which is liable to cause ordinary, reasonable persons to think less of the subject or shun or avoid the subject.

Defamatory publications will include aspersions upon an individual's reputation for honour, honesty and integrity as well as disparagement of an individual's reputation in trade, business, profession or office.

Changes to eBay Feedback

Ebay won't remove feedback sent by a spiteful liar either...Anyone can damage your credibility on a whim or if you are their competitor..We all work hard to keep our feedback positive then get an unreasonable customer who is issued a refund and gives negative and damaging feedback, more or less calling you a thief minutes after giving a receipt of refund...I called ebay to complain and was told that's how the person felt about her experience..They don't care if she is lying..Two of my friends left ebay because their competitors bid on items, won them and refused to pay, making up some story that the sellers were listing inferior products and giving really negative feedbac......All lies and ebay did nothing so they left....It's not worth paying all these fees and getting no customer service...If i made a complaint in a store or any other business, they would look into it and determine whether it was unfair or defamation, to keep the customer...Not ebay..It's just bad luck that you get a crazy buyer telling lies and they will not remove defamation at all ,so basically anyone can say anything they like about you, whether it be true or false...Gumtree and FB both have places to sell your items without having to put up with this and they don't have fees..I'm deleting my account as soon as an item i'm bidding on ends..No point in building up positive feedback to have it ruined by a psychopath.
