Closing account!!

I am finding it impossible to close my ebay account.

I first telephoned ebay and they said it would be closed. They then emailed to say there was money owing on the account (which I then paid even though there was a direct debit in place).

They then said I couldn't close the account until 30 days had elapsed from the last payment. When this time arrived they still wouldn't close the account as there was now a small overpayment ($6) A refund from my store closure presumably.

They have now said I have to wait 25 to 30 days until they refund the $6 overpayment then another 30 days after that before the account is closed.

I find ebay are being extremely difficult in their procedures in this case.

Beware if you think you can close your account with one click!!

Re: Closing account!!

Closing an account is not instant , even if there is no money owing

And I *think* if someone has an ebay store account, it is not 'closed' for 6 months after the request (could be wrong there)

But certainly takes more than one click and a couple of days for regular/normal selling accounts

When you submit a request to close your account, we'll keep it open for 60 days so any outstanding sales or purchases can be completed. If you change your mind during this time, you can contact us and ask to have it reopened.

After the 60-day period, your account will be permanently closed. If you'd like to use eBay again, you'll need to create a new account.

Re: Closing account!!

On first phoning ebay they initially said they had closed my account and it takes 30 days to go through. However they then phoned back (and emailed) to say I would have to wait 30 days after my last monthly direct debit was made.

I then made an upfront payment and paid the account invoice and was told I had to wait 30 days before it would now be closed.

In the mean time there was now a $6.60 over payment due to a refund on my store fees (presumably).

Ebay have now said I have to wait 25 to 30 days for them to refund the $6.60 overpayment before I can then request my account be closed!!!

It still will not be automatically closed but i will have to request closure. Will I then hit another problem and more delays?

Re: Closing account!!

Did you read the whole link I gave, not just the piece I copied?

How about this bit? -

If your account doesn't meet our minimum seller performance standards, you won't be able to close your account. Go to your Seller Dashboard - opens in new window or tab to see what you'll need to do to raise your seller performance.

Sounds weird, but there it is.

Yes, I read it!

My account is, and has always been, "Top Rated".

Re: Closing account!!

Once you have requested to hav the account closed you have to  wait 60 days.  If you use the account during that 60 days the time will reset and your 60 days starts again.

Re: Closing account!!

I am quite willing to wait the 60 days if that is ebay policy. But the problem is I cannot get ebay to close my account in the first place.

As I have previously said they keep finding another reason to wait 25 to 30 days before activating an account closure.

Re: Closing account!!

That is why they will not close the account immediately.

It used to be 6 months before the account was finally closed because that was how long before all claims on the account could be finalised.
