Just received eBay's latest assistance to sellers *Ebay's NEW HEALTH CHECK* .
This may be old news but they are moving timed BUY IT NOW and will move all my listings to GOOD TIL CANCELLED. Well that is not what I want but then again we have no say.
This does not suit me for many reasons with something new I like to use 10 days as an option. The rest are 30 day listings which gives me the option to adjust the listings if they are not attracting buyers or watches. I will sometimes group them with other items etc.
I find the 30 day listings far more manageable for my business needs.
So if all fixed listings are good til cancelled I dare say the next step will be for those with ebay stores will be reduced with the amount of fixed listings in their subscription.
Good til cancelled also means there will be a hell of a lot of old stock on there for years or if I remember correctly they were bringing in limited time for listings.
I have had my vent but OH SO FRUSTRATING makes me wonder why I am doing this.

I had a chat session today with eBay, here are some of the replies (If anyone else is better at deciphering what it means please comment): Not sure why I thought 28 days as ppl seem to be saying 30 days). I've listed items today and they have all been GTC and have been using my free listing allocation.
Chat Transcript (Abbreviated for clarity and removed names):
Q: I can only select "GTC" for the duration of a fixed price listing?
A: This is a new update in the site where eBay is starting to have all listings only with the Good Till Cancelled option. We are making this change as listings with longer durations have a better chance at converting their items.
Q: So correct me if i'm wrong. I have many low value items that sell over and over again. I cannot afford to pay listing fees on these items every month. So if I list 40 items and use up my free listings then 28 days later ebay relists them and charges me $1.50x40 ($60) ?!?
A: I understand your concern about this. NO worries though because if you already used 50 for this month, this will not be counted in your 40 free listings in the next month. It is not the same as it used to before that whenever it's GTC listings it will also consume the next months 40 free listings.
Q: So now a GTC listing that relists every 28 days will not charge a relisting fee?
A: Yes as per the update. It'll just consume the 40 free listings the first time you listed it.
...
Q: Do you have s link to the announcement as I don't remember seeing it? Thanks
A: We actually don't have for now. This was just recently updated and we are emailing the members one by one about this.

Basic store: 24.95 + 2.50 GST = $27.45/month
@ lotsamags, can I suggest you read through the first page or two of this thread re durations and auctions vs BINs.

That's effectively what I was just told.
The conversion to GTC, from today, will use free listings or incur fees, but any rollovers will be free.
This is what jfmgray reported last week, but I still don't believe it.
I did mine through live chat, so I get a transcript. Which could well form the basis of a complaint to the ACCC, as the email from eBay stated that the initial conversion to GTC would be fee free. Which it demonstrably isn't, thus false advertising.

It's not required but when you end in bulk those listings automatically show "item is no longer available".
Which makes no difference to BINs. I've been doing it for years with no repercussions.

just done that brer still confused, apart from avoid 1st and 31st of the month - will remember that
nothing is clear cut...and I'm guessing epay like it that way
still wondering if its safe to tick autorelist on the now avail 10day auction period and ignore it for gtc - seems fishy

Autorelist is not available for GTC, so that's easy.
The changes are for BIN. As yet auctions are unaffected, so that's also easy.

There's suddenly a whole lot more auctions in Collectables.
Egad! Word is out.

collectables, meaning they get a longer time period?

I was also considering converting to a basic store but from that link it says I can have 600 free listings in collectables. My items aren't collectibles, am I reading it wrong
"Up to 600 fixed price listings or auction-style listings in the Collectables category"
How many free listings/month does a basic store get in non collectables?
