Ebay hiding listings

I have 11 listings on auction and 10 of them have bids, but now only 3 are showing up in search so I have a bad feeling I won't sell them for much due to them not being seen by potential buyers.

How can Ebay do this and why is Ebay doing this? Or is it a glitch?

Re: Ebay hiding listings

I get where you are coming from, but why on earth would eBay give a potential scammer a heads up ?

As many sellers know the golden guideline really is NEVER start an auction for less than you are happy to accept.

Its a lesson that newbies sometimes need to experience to understand this guideline.

Running low start auctions for such a short period is highly likely to cause tears and angst even if listings were visible.

Re: Ebay hiding listings

Surprisingly, one went for over double the amount that others had listed as buy it now and another went for around the same price as the other buy it nows. In that case, I would probably honour the sale. That's up to the OP though whether they do or not.

It does also say as you are about to list that there may be a delay in seeing it in search results.

Re: Ebay hiding listings

There were others shown in your completed listing from other sellers. They all had a buy it now price of between  $4 & $6.

That's for 1 coin,my listings had more than 1 coin in the recent listings so I infact sold for half or less and not double

Re: Ebay hiding listings

Please point us to this golden rule guideline that says you should start at a price you're willing to accept. At the moment ebay is pushing sellers to start at 99c. For a new seller that registered a month ago, that's all they had to go on.

Even those of us who have been selling ling term are getting messages to start at 99c on unsold auctions.

What indicates to you that this seller is a scammer? Not all new sellers of coins are scammers.

Yes, you are absolutely correct. My mistake!  I shouldn't post on forums before the 3rd caffeine hit lol.

Re: Ebay hiding listings

I have a large collection of coins aquired over the years and thought it was a good time to sell as selling of coins is going great any time of the year but then to have hit a brick wall as soon as you try then I might just need to stick to BIN and hope for the best.

I hope no coin collectors think that I am a scammer and don't even bother buying from me or even read what has been said in some other members posts.

The golden rule guideline unfortunately may only be understood through gaining some experience, and development of skepticism regarding  eBay suggestions.

As a seller I think you pretty soon learn on this site that following eBay suggestions for improving your selling rate can bring you significant grief - including the guff about starting things at 99c.

My advice is for newbies to start out very conservatively with their pricing, rather than throwing caution to the wind and leaving it for the market place alone to deliver the price they would like.

Please - my comment re questionning why eBay would alert potential scammers to having a flagged account was meant generally - personalise it if you will, but insult to the OP WAS NOT intended.
