How do I cancel a COM buyer after partial refund thru PayPal?

Gday all.

A Seller bought and paid for a book then asked for a cancellation (as she was putting her phone back in her bag, and didn't intend buying  and paying for it)

I went into PayPal and issued a refund less the 69c non refundable PayPal fee.

In Order Details, it is showing the amount refunded but having a balance of the 69c.

Did I do wrong as I can't see how to complete the cancellation process on eBay?

The only option there is to give a full refund; I have already given a partial refund and am reluctant to go this way.

Any help and words of wisdom would be appreciated.

Paypal refund the fee when you do a refund via Paypal.

When I went into PayPal to do the refund, under the amount to be refunded and under the PayPal Fee of $1.68, there was a non refundable PayPal fee - the 69c.

This is why I did the refund less that amount.

No you wouldn't. Paypal keep the (usually) 30c transaction fee and have done so for years.

The problem for the OP is that they won't be able to cancel with the partial payment still there. And thus won't get the FVFs refunded, which are almost definitely more than 69c.

The only thing I can think of is to open a cancellation request with the buyer and hope they agree to it and state that they've been refunded. That MIGHT complete a cancellation and fee refund.

I think I willl just refund the 69c and take my FVF refund.
