Question on Response to a Feedback Comment

I have been contacted by a seller who is a little bit afraid to post for help on these boards.
They are a small time seller trying to supplement family income.

They sold an item that would have been a bit fragile to mail so thought the safest way would be to hand deliver as the address was in their local area.

So far as I can gather the sale did have a separate postage cost listed.

So they drove about 1.5 hours to hand deliver the item. Not really local.

Now the buyer has left a big red dot with the comment
"Payed for postage and they delivered it themselves feeling a bit ripped off...."

So they thought they were doing the right thing by hand delivering and got slammed.

I think there is very little that could be done about the NEG but what they want to know is some good words to respond to that NEG with.

I'm not that great with these kinda words.

Anyone have any good ideas?

Question on Response to a Feedback Comment

The OP (clarry) was posting on behalf of a different seller, who in turn was in contact with a couple of forum posters when they sought assistance.

I'm glad to hear the best possible outcome was acheived. ๐Ÿ™‚

Yes the seller had contacted 4 members asking for suggestions on their unexpected dilemna.

I hope the actual seller will be comfortable enough to come directly to the boards next time there's an issue, too.

I was totally confoosed too! Glad you asked for clarryfication because now I'm unconfoosed too. Great outcome for the seller! I love a happy ending.

Agree with Amber too, hopefully the seller will be comfortable to visit themselves if the need arises in the future.

Question on Response to a Feedback Comment

LOL. Yes I can understand the confusion. Sorry all.

When I made the original post on behalf of the seller (who had contacted me privately) I was unaware at that time that she had also made similar private contact with other sellers.

But now there has been a fantastic outcome as you can see.

I do thank one and all for your understanding and help with this one.

Interesting case and it seems the buyer must have had a bad hair day when they left the initial red dot as it also turns out they said no need to refund any postage..

And I also hope that the seller will have the confidence to come onto these boards herself and ask for help in the future.

I'm sure she can now see there is some fabulous help to be had here.

Question on Response to a Feedback Comment

heres an example of how a newish seller could decide its too damn hard to please buyers on ebay and walk away. or a buyer could feel obliged to allow a seller to come to their home to deliver a package and afterwards think i really dont like that and stop buying on ebay.

luckily there was a good result but goes to show good intentions can be missinterpreted.

i hope there are no sellers who would just turn up on a buyers doorstep with item thinking 'i'm doing this buyer a great service by hand delivering'

communication is very important and allways via ebay messages.

Question on Response to a Feedback Comment

You've got some very good points there David. Personally, I'd never decide to deliver to a buyer unAnnounced. I wouldn't want them just turning up at my place, so wouldn't do it to them. Normally if they don't want to pay postage, I'll agree to meet at a mutual location, like the supermarket carpark, Maccas or Bunnings. Although the last few have been Officeworks because we both needed to go there that day. A couple of buyers said to post, which was fine by me too.
