Request for return from buyer, but my description and photos were accurate.

Hi, had my first request (in twenty plus years) for a return yesterday based on 'not as described', but the item and photos were exactly as described. Involves an R.M. Williams box from a deceased estate. I clearly stated the logo was in gold print, with photos to match. Buyer has claimed a return based on the fact the logo wasn't metal and didn't have any horns etc., Metal was never mentioned in my description, only 'gold print logo', with an extremely clear photo of the top of the box. Buyer supplied a small photo of the metal logo and clearly not what I was offering for sale, so why bid and then complain? I have no issue accepting a return, if it is my fault, this clearly is not, but seems the buyer is always right. Can anyone advise who I contact at eBay to challenge this - as I said I will happily refund, but feel it unfair when I definitely did not state anything about a metal logo? Ah,  take a look at the logo inside the box,  thats not RM Williams either, and the logo on the top definietly isnt.

Falsely advertised,   but it could be argued that the buyer saw the pictures,  and should have known before purchase.  

But your fault for false advertising.  Accept the return,  send off the postage label, and refund when it gets to you.  Otherwise you may get a neg.

Put it down to a learning experience,  and check you other listings,  there is at least one other which I would be concerned about.

Sugar - as the buyer is not disputing the R.M. fact - but the ' fact ' the legend was not metal - don't think they have much to go on - nowhere in the listing mentions a metal anything.

I'd leave it and fight it on the basis - it was as described - forget the R.M. bit - the buyer seems to have taken it for R.M. - but that is not their complaint.

It didn't say that in the ad, it said the logo was clear and in gold print.

And I can see a couple of horns on there, so not sure what the buyer is on about.

Do RM Williams items normally come with a metal logo?

You could fight it on the basis that the item was never described as having a metal logo so it is as described, but you are on shaky ground as you also described it as an RM Williams item, which it is not & if the buyer gets wind of that, you would lose the appeal.

I don't know, I think I'd probably accept the return, annoying as that would be because you did describe it accurately apart from the brand. It could go either way if you fight it but ebay, from what I have gathered on this forum, usually sides with the buyer, so maybe cut your losses. Let us know what you decide and how it goes if you get the chance.

Absolutely not but they do have metal belt buckles with a 'longhorn' logo on the similar the the graphic that Dom posted.

Mitzi- based on the dimensions of the box, I reckon it once held a pen set - especially when you consider the imprint inside the box is for a company that specialises in personalised gifts.

Thanks Everyone, I will go ahead with the return purely because it seems it may not be R.M. Williams, so I made the error in not checking and in trusting the owner of the box. A valuable lesson learned. Thanks again.
