I thought it was just me having issues, from about 8.30pm, but it turns out someone else was too. I was trying to list stuff and kept having major problems. Then just before midnight, I couldn't get past the "this web page is not available" message....it was completely dead.
Phone app was no help. I could see my watch list and current listings, but couldn't revise or add a new listing, the app kept throwing me out and logging me out.
I thought maybe I had contracted a virus, despite not going to any sites that I don't normally go to. So, I ran every malware scanner under the sun, did a hard disk and registry clean, rebooted, installed all the new windoze updates, rebooted the router, tried several different browsers, tried DH's computer, and nothing.
Than about half hour ago I got a message from another forum member asking if I was having issues because they couldn't log on.
So glad it wasn't just me because I was all set to reformat my computer tomorrow!!
Did everyone else have issues, or was it a sporadic thing?

We had trouble listing and/or logging in from about mid afternoon Sunday and onwards.
We gave up after a while. Tried all kinds of things before we surmised it must have been a website problem.
A bit annoyed as we were unable to list the remainder of our FREE listings.
Any auctions ending during that time ended without sales either.

I checked this page to see what was going on with eBay:
http://www.isitdownrightnow.com/ebay.com.html
Look at all the comments........ once I saw that, I stopped messing with my DNS settings and stuff, and just had to go to bed.
Quite sad that I lost the 150 free listings I was hoping to get done just before midnight due to wanting to spend the weekend with my family. I guess we shouldn't leave things to the last minute (or hours) with eBay - look what happens. Everyone else does it too and it probably caused a meltdown. It's annoying that eBay always launches these free promotions just before the weekend.
I don't imagine there will be any more freebies offered until for next weekend at the earliest.

Yikes, lots of people set their auctions to end on sunday nights now, how many auctions failed/sales didnt go through because of that!

Yep
I had an auction ending and it failed !
I find out because a **bleep** off bidder sent me a message saying he was trying to bid but he kept getting locked out - he even sent a screenshot.
So what happens now?
I sent a message to the winner(?) saying there was a problem and I wanted to cancel, but how will all this play out?
Grrrr . . . . oh well

I suppose if nothing else, a few of us now have spotlessly clean computers! I forgot to mention that I also defraged too and got rid of about 20GB of carp!
I could access eBay and the forums without logging in, I just couldn't log in to do anything. I checked for any outages on their announcement page, but couldn't find anything. Maybe that came later, or it wasn't available to see unless logged in?
It was only when I tried to access the forums on my phone around 2am(ish) where I was able to logon, that I retried the computer. Everything worked then. Interestingly though, when I tried the phone app about 45 minutes later to check the eBay site, it had crashed again and kept logging me out. Each time I would try and log back in, I would get told I had no network connection.
I knew I had network connection because I was hooked up to the home network and everything else that required the internet worked OK. I even logged out of the router and still got the same thing on 4G.
It all seems to be working OK this morning, both the phone and computer. I'm a bit miffed that I didn't get more of the free listings used, but there were only about 6 more things I was going to list anyway. I still have plenty of my 40 freebies left.

Ebay was down.....but these boards weren't?
I wondered why it was so quiet last night.
I hadn't logged out and kept coming back for a look.
There seemed to be only 3 of us and a lot of tumbleweeds.
Then when I went to log out. The boards were fine,
but I couldn't log out of ebay. Was still signed in this morning

Why am I not surprised that ebay hasn't bothered to make a general announcement re this problem.
They treat both their buyers and sellers with contempt !!
There must have been huge numbers of affected traders who had auctions finishing last night or wished to bid (not me personally, though I couldn't upload photos for a while last night) and still ebay doesn't feel there is any hurry to acknowledge it, apologise to those who were impacted and reassure that compensation will be considered.
Like I said, why am I surprised !!
