Re: paypal hoarding your money

It's a relatively new policy applying to low frequency/new sellers.

If the item tracks as delivered, ring Paypal, give them the tracking number (and carrier) and they should release your funds instantly.

If you don't have a merchant credit card facility (quite expensive) and you refuse to accept Paypal, your sojourn as a seller on eBay will likely end soon. And you might find it difficult to sell through other avenues, although the hold is only supposed to apply to eBay.

But, as I said, it is easy enough to fix. Always pays to find the facts berfore going off.

Not sure how relatively "new" it is. The hold came in November last year!!! I know when they decided to inflict the hold on my second account, which was new at the time, there was a message down the bottom stating in red writing that funds from the sale would be subjected to the 21 days hold. It was pretty hard to miss when creating the listing!

Re: paypal hoarding your money

It is fairly new for this to be applied to newbies however the temp hold on payments which are a lot higher than a users normal transactions has been in place for a good many years now, the money is meant to be released when the buyer leaves feedback or 21 days have gone by.

OP just ask your buyer to leave feedback and if they have already done so call Paypal and ask nicely if they will release the funds as the buyer has left feedback, if they still say no then that is the time to get your proverbials in a twist and start getting annoyed.

Ranting and raving over something that is clearly stated in Paypal's terms and conditions, which you have agreed to is just a waste of energy.

Re: paypal hoarding your money

You have not sold for over a year...that is what this hold is all about.

Is it really so difficult to pick up the phone and point out that the buyer has left feedback?

Re: paypal hoarding your money

Here is the criteria for removal of the 21 day holds:

While you establish your selling track record, buyer payments may be delayed. These funds will generally be available once:

  • It's been more than 90 days since your first successful sale; and
  • You've had more than 25 sales transactions; and
  • You've had more than $250 in total sales.

Notice the "and"s  - you need to satisfy all three criteria per account (ie even long term powersellers get the same restrictions if they open a new account)

I note in your feedback you only have 10 fb as a seller - while not probably an accurate count of how many sales you have made, it's a long way short of 25.

It's not personal.  There's many many threads expressing anger about this policy.

And none in the last 12 months.

I doubt eBay will miss such a high volume seller.
