significant problems with eBay either purchasing or acknowledging I am human

Hi

Trying to purchase an item, I am told I cannot do so

This is happening continuously and I cannot find an answer

Also, all day today when trying to access eBay there is some form of error when trying to confirm I am a human. Whatever  you are doing, every few seconds it comes back and asks you to confirm that you are a human and this goes on and on YIKES!!!!

Are you using a VPN?

Yes I am, and for a long time

Thank you, I will try with it turned off tomorrow, and will not be happy about it as, the continuous asking to confirm my humanity only started today

By definition a VPN hides your identity. Why are you surprised when trying to use eBay anonymously doesn't work?

Thanks for that, but it still happens when VPN is turned off. I am logged in, and I can see all my information and purchases etc etc. So eBay certainly knows it is me and used to do so with VPN for at least 18 months or more. This is recent, and something at eBay end seemingly the interface between eBay and PayPal is involved as I come back to eBay from PayPal site. It then asks me if I am human and each time I confirm it keeps asking me to confirm that I am human, and The order does not go to completion.Such as I have to log out as there is a continuous loop

Another member posted not long ago about a problem between eBay/PayPal and they blamed each other for it. Apparently it has been happening on the USA forum as well

I'm afraid. I don’t know, sorry

Thank you for all your help. I suspect it is a glitch somewhere in somebody's programming that is occasionally tripped, and once you do, it makes life intolerable and frustration sets in.

Both are great sites, but with things like this happening they could lose customers, as there are others nipping at their heals. So sad. As from your comment, both sites programmers cannot find the glitch. Again, thanks for going to so much trouble for me

No trouble, sorry I'm not able to suggest anything that might make it work again how it should work

Off course you are making an assumption that it is them.  It may also be your system,  otherwise the forum would be bombarded with 2 million complaints if it was a programming error.

PS.  Have you reported the issue to Ebay?

Re: significant problems with eBay either purchasing or acknowledging I am human

Thanks, I have tried to put this to eBay, and when I did, I was directed to this forum. I am sad to say, I think eBay has cut back too far on support, and are now depending on people like yourself to do their work for them. I have been an eBay member for a long time, and it used to be reasonably easy to get technical support. EBay is not the only company that has seriously cut back on technical support, and the AI some are using, to try and do so, has a long way to go ,to come anywhere close to human technical support, but being so much cheaper, that seems to be the way they are going
