I have no idea what's going on in this thread as obviously big chunks are missing, but I can't see the usual signs of a mod or editing.

But michelle, there's an easy explanation. If a seller blocks you from bidding it is because they don't want you to bid.

Simple as that.

You've been on the boards for years so you've probably read other threads about people being blocked. You would know it can be for the usual reasons-having a series of unpaid item strikes, being in a country they don't sell to and so on.

worth a read!

Good grief, you're better than Sherlock Holmes, how did you find those? I discovered I had even contributed to one but it is so far back I had forgotten all about it.Smiley Happy

Michelle, it looks to me as if you are on numerous blocked lists but having said that, there are millions of sellers on ebay.

So every now & again you're going to come up against a block but just soldier on, there will always be someone else to buy from.

I found the first thread and then cheated because there is a link in the first to the other.

Spoiler
I have time to spare these days.  When I recalled that michelle had once posted that she was going to ask eBay to remove a seller’s block I just went looking.

Re: Blocked bidding

First time ever I've been blocked...I don't know why, any ideas welcomed.

I've bought tops before from them- loved them, great feedback from us both. So, I bought another top- it never arrived. They said it had been delivered but due to the delay would refund me and that the top should be there any day.

It never arrived and I received the refund. I messaged them to say I still wanted the top and they responded that they could only send available stock. So... it's still showing on EBay as available but it on their direct site...

Why block me??

TIA x

Re: Blocked bidding

You received a refund but still want the item.....you can't have both.

Did you tell the seller that you wanted the top before or after the refund was issued and did you make it plain that you wanted to pay for it again?

Maybe the seller thought you were after a freebie.

I don't really understand this bit - did you mean they said it had been posted, or were they saying there was tracking that indicated it had been delivered, but then went on to say it should still arrive?

No one here can really answer your question, though. Those kinds of decisions are up to the seller in question, and the motivation for it will vary from seller to seller.

Some will just block anyone they've had a problematic transaction with, whether it's justified (in objective terms) or not, some sellers will block when a problem arises but unblock if resolved, some sellers will block if they don't like how the issue was raised. I have done this myself as a seller, even for buyers who I'd previously had a long-standing, successful trading history with - telling me politely about a transaction issue is cool, sending me a message that comes across like the buyer is texting someone they dislike (eg "Still waiting for this" and nothing else), or containing either veiled or obvious threats (most sellers will take references to feedback as a threat), immediately puts my finger on the block trigger, and I'll only relax it if the buyer responds to me more reasonably after I message them back.

I'm not suggesting any of this is applicable to you, just throwing out some common situations where a seller may consider blocking a buyer, and trying to exemplify there are probably a lot of things some buyers don't realise are seen as red flags by the average seller.

I know it can feel like a personal insult when something like this happens, especially if you were genuine, respectful and fair, but in that case the seller has indicated they are not exactly empathetic and probably did you a favour by not letting you give them your money.

Perhaps tracking showed the item had been delivered but you did not recieve it. There can be a number of reasons for this. Item stolen from your unlocked mailbox. Item left poking out of slot of secure mailbox by postie and stolen, Item incorrectly addressed and delivered to someone else nearby. AP mistake and item delivered to a neighbouring property. Item correctly sent to your address but another family member collects the mail and forgets to pass the package on or leaves it in an unusual place where you find it two months later.......The list goes on.

Rather than argue with you, the seller may have simply refunded and blocked.

Re: Blocked bidding

I haven't been here for a very long time and there seems to be quite a few threads dragged up from the archives including one I posted in in 2013.

But my favourite would have to be this one, I am sure I have read about problems with the OP at other times.

Is the OP the one importing cat pellets from Canada for her ferrets and the postman wouldn't card her because he was too busy bonking her neighbour out at the delivery van parked in the street and the neighbours would steal her parcels and at some time punches were thrown or maybe it was just words thrown amongst neighbours all over these (possibly illegally) imported pellets?
