some weeks ago there was discussion here about an "outside website" where member buying history could be looked up.
I am in no way wanting to re-start the sometimes heated discussion surrounding the use of that website, but want to let members know that you can have your buying history suppressed on that site.
It is hard to post this information without saying the name of the website, which would probably get that same old protagonists going at eachother again. So, I have uploaded a screengrab I just took from that site that details how to "opt-out" of your eBay ID being able to be searched. I will edit this post so that the image will no longer be visible on this post, but will be visible if you look at my member profile and click on my images. I will make all other images there private so that there is only one image to view.
Follow the instructions on the screengrab and your buying history will not be searchable on that outside website. Takes a little while for the request to be processed, but that should be expected. For anyone who is holding off posting because you don't want your buying history looked into you can now suppress your buying activity search results and then post here knowing that members can not search your buying habits/history on that site.
I ask that members not use this thread to start up the old arguments. Thank you.
edit: image now removed BUT still viewable through my profile public image album.
Solved! Go to Solution.

The first day I posted here someone publically discussed my purchases.
Subsequently, in a thread regarding buyer privacy, purchases of mine were posted.
If I want my purchases publicised I am capable of doing so myself.
Sir Sales, thank you for posting this. Boring or not, everyone deserves the right to decide for themselves what appears on a public forum.
If people ask for help here with a purchase, then it is easy enough to ask for further details if required, if they have blocked that outside site from bringing them up.

thanks i was unaware that site even existed ,whats the point of having set private feedback to keep your purchases private when that website shows everything anyway.. in my opinion its an invasion of peoples privacy ..ive opted out.

I regularly respond in the answer centre and it was a very helpful tool.
I will miss it.
Thanks for the update though sir sales.

I agree Kopes.
I often used that site when answering questions in the AC. For the most part, the OPs do not give enough information for us to give an informed answer and often do not return to answer questions they are asked.
Add to that the fact that is now seems that all Item Numbers are removed by the Mods and really I think the AC may as well be closed entirely.

Hello, everyone. This thread is getting off-topic and interpersonal. Please remember the board usage policy prohibits off-topic discussion and interpersonal dispute. Thanks. 🙂

Well there is a member asking for help with a delivery......they have posted the item number incorrectly.
It must be a Private listing as it is not showing on that site. No-one can help until/unless the member comes back to the thread.
So the site does have its uses.

yes, but this thread is not about whether it is useful or whether it is right or wrong to use it.
Weeks ago a comment was made that some members come to the boards and only read because they do not want their buying history snooped upon if they post on threads.
This thread is about giving every member that reads the Opening Post the opportunity to have their buying history suppressed on that site, giving them the opportunity to post here without having anyone able to look at their buying history. This does not mean that I think that members were snooping on anyone that posts on these boards, but if that possibility was preventing members from posting then that impediment can now be removed.

@kopenhagen5 wrote:Hi, Don't know if you are aware, when you delete the pictures in your profile it means they are deleted from all the posts.
So if someone searches an answer, your post will show the little box with the cross in it instead of a pic.
yep, I know that. I deleted the pic from my post and not from my profile. Last time I looked it was still in my public album which is viewable via my discussion board profile.

Exactly where I found it.

I think Kopes might be referring to all the other helpful
screengrabs that you have put up.
On those threads there will only be a red square now.
Unless you moved those images into your private images
And thanks for the heads up, but I'm as boring as batsh*t
with my buying - wouldn't interest anybody

thanks stawka, they have been moved to my private album. If this means they are no longer visible in posts I will go back and move them to my public album again. Will go and check now.
edit: just checked the "Buying Vouchers" thread I started. The pics are still visible on that thread even though they have been moved to my 'private' album.
