It’s wrong that sellers can remove factual feedback

Really frustrating that factual neutral feedback can just be removed by a seller because they complain to eBay. 

I think this undermines the purpose and integrity of feedback. Why even allow such practices?

Wrong, FB is not automatically removed because a seller complains, it must be in breach of policies to warrant removal.

I agree with you.

I think there have to be some rules about feedback and I can completely understand any comments that are abusive or vulgar etc being removed.

But factual feedback should remain. If there is a sentence in it that ebay reps don't like, then maybe they could remove that, but not delete all of the feedback.

 

I have read a few times in here that buyers can't mention that they got ebay involved. I can't see why. Many buyers do & because their sellers don't complain, the comments stay. It is actually a very common comment to see in feedback so many buyers would think it is allowed. And I think it is useful feedback in that it guides other buyers as to what can be done if things go wrong.

I factually stated that one part of an item was not original to the item and was a replacement/reproduction part but that I was still happy with the item. Seller asked to revise claiming it was old stock (it wasn’t) and suggesting I should have claimed a return. I didn’t want to return the item and just said I was happy despite the part being wrong. 

So apparently unless you’re saying everything is awesome it seems you may as well not bother leaving feedback at all.

They must have gone to eBay. I said that I was happy with the item but one part was not authentic (had been identified by an expert as reproduction) and the seller said I should have gone through the eBay return etc. which I wasn’t bothered to do as it was a minimal issue. Surely seller would have been happier that I wasn’t claiming against them or asking for a return. 

Just seems you can’t be factual with some people. Just means it’s better to leave no feedback at all if it’s not all good.

I think that as a neutral comment, that should have been allowed to stand.

It may be that because you said you were still happy with the item, ebay decided to side with the seller but in my opinion (which of course doesn't influence ebay in the slightest), that is what neutral feedback is for-people who aren't necessarily unhappy as such but have one issue with the purchase.

If I had gone down the returns for not described path would it not have been a  worse outcome for the seller? EBay fees paypal fees and original plus return postage all covered by them. Would have been out by $25 to $30 and for what? A neutral does not even affect your rating as it remains the same. Exactly the same as no feedback - and sellers often ask for feedback to be left.

Hi Padi,  I think she set the phasers to stun, but maybe she did not specify or AI set the wrong meaning for stun.

As for the above, considering a couple of diners were successfully sued for defamation for leaving a 1 star review and no comment, I am no longer surprised by anything in this crazy world.
