Hi all, purchased an item from a NSW Central Coast Business on 29th August. They didn't supply a tracking number until I asked two days ago, when the item failed to show up. It is only going to NSW Central West. When I try and track it with the supplied number, it says ''no scans available'' for the item. I would have thought that it should show at least one scan when the item was lodged into the Aust Post system, as mine normally say ''information recieved'' at least. Then in the next day os so, it will say ''in transit''. To me, this item has not being sent in the first place, or something is seriously wrong in the postal system. Has anyone had this happen where a tracking number never gets scaanned between lodgement and delivery? Any help would be good.

And you wonder why someone would want to sell on ebay lol.
How is it bad form by the seller?
Just because AP say something just to save their own ass doesn't mean that it's the sellers fault.
OP said this is a big seller so I don't think the seller would have done this on purpose?
I purchased an item from a seller once, they marked it as posted almost immediately yet 12 days later it showed as posted but due to the fact that I'm a very patient buyer I just moved on knowing that something went wrong but I didn't accuse the seller.
I know what happens to a seller when their lively hood goes down the toilet just because of some so and so having the upper hand due to ebay's kiss ass attitude towards buyers.

Yes, hear what you are saying. As I required the item by today, the 12th, at the latest, it will be returned unopened as soon as it arrives in the mail. I have to purchase an item in my travels from a store, so won't be requiring two on my return home. I have someone available to collect my mail while away, so back it will go. I used Paypal afterpay, which works well for things that go belly up within the time lag before payment is due.

So, you appear to say that AP is stating that the item first came into their system yesterday, the 11th, but they possibly have had it in their posession since the claimed date of posting, which was the 29th August? I know AP do some funny stunts at times, but holding onto a parcel for over two weeks is stretching your defence of them a little. A parcel where the lable has came off, or wrongly adressed might end up in the ''dead letter'' dept, but for an item with a tracking number stuck on it......no, simply would not take that many days to follow it through. I have an AP online account, and the tracking number supplied was a dead duck until yesterday, the 11th, when it was obviously posted. This seller has lied to the hilt, and has been caught out.

Read post # 13 for Crow's explanation/experience.

Further confirmation that this seller has lied all along. Aust Post has confirmed that the only enquiries on this ''missing'' article were from myself, no enquiries were lodged by the seller. Wouldn't a seller have been on the blower to Aust Post in a flash, with the possibility of a dispute being started regarding the item not being delivered, and a refund demanded? I suppose this seller would not have called Aust Post to complain, when they knew full well that they had only just posted the item on the 11th Sept, not the 29th Aug.They would look pretty stupid enquiring about a parcel that was still in their posession. I have learnt that the seller uses pre paid postal satchels, which would obviously have tracking labels on them, so when I asked the seller for tracking details, they simply read off the number from the satchel, but it was probably empty at that time, as they didn't have my item to place in it, so, explains how they could give me a tracking number from an empty package, but didn't pack the item in it until the 11th of this month, and lodge it. Caught out very easily.

Back about a decade or more ago, it was sellers who had the upper hand and I acknowledge that the worm has turned but it had to, to a large extent, because buyers needed to feel confident that they would in fact get their items and get them in a reasonable time frame. Without that, ebay would be dead in the water because there are lots more other selling sites these days, compared to the early days.
I judged my comments on the information given, and that was
-the seller marked an item as sent on Aug 29
-the seller did not provide a tracking number at this time
-estimated delivery was by Aug 5th
-Aust Post confirmed to the buyer that the item was not lodged with them till the 10 Aug
-tracking information did not appear on ebay till 11 Aug
-the seller did not reply to some of their queries about the item. These queries were not unreasonable, they were after the due arrival date had passed.
Mistakes do happen but we were also told this is an experienced seller and that it was not a cheap item ($250).
It is normal practice, I have found, for sellers to pop the tracking number on ebay once they have posted the item. Why didn't the seller do this? Not the highest level of competence and thoroughness if they had posted it then missed supplying the tracking number at that time.
I can't see any reason to believe the seller more than Aust Post in this instance. In fact, quite the opposite. I don't believe the seller had the item or the other scenario is they missed a sale & forgot to post. I don't believe it was posted till a few days ago, all the logical evidence points to that.
Audistarelectrics has every right to feel unhappy. In this instance, the buyer would most definitely have been better off opening an item not received claim very soon after the ETA, because their item was time sensitive.
I don't believe I am an unreasonable buyer, in fact I usually cut sellers quite a lot of slack, more than some other buyers would.
But there are some things I expect from sellers, because they are the things I did as a seller
-to supply the item, at least similar to what was advertised
-to supply it in a reasonable time frame ie by ETA or very soon after that.
-to answer any queries reasonably promptly.
Fail to do those things and I am not a happy buyer and I don't think I am alone. If anyone wants to sell on ebay without too much strife, the above 3 things need to be your bible. That's the reality.

" it will be returned unopened as soon as it arrives in the mail"
Not a good idea...that will void any buyer protection.

Don't worry, I will certainly follow the procedure that Paypal advises. I have opened a dispute regarding the matter, and hope that the truth prevails. My only concern is that as they have now obviously posted the item, and it shows delivery likely today, I won't get my money back, even though the seller has lied to the hilt. I am on the road at the moment, several hours from home, and had to purchase the exact same item from a store, as I must have it on this trip. That is why I ordered it on the 29th Aug, so It would/should have been with me. I am now out of pocket to the tune of $500. Luckily, the original payment is Paypal Afterpay, so I am hoping they will do a stop on that, and allow the return of the item. I have arranged for someone to collect it at home when it arrives, so the return will be prompt, if allowed. After all, the seller should be penalized for lying. If they didn't have the item in the first place, yet were prepared to take my funds, which Paypal would have already paid them on the 29th last, that has to be a fraudulent act. I just hope Paypal see it that way.

"Esiimated delivery date was the 5th August,"
I'm a bit slow....just noticed the above.
Do you have your dates confused with this purchase?
on โ13-09-2019 02:05 PM
Yes, sorry, it was 5th Sept, for the estimated arrival date, I did typo that one.
